Libya - civil unrest & now NATO involvement

Im at work with no media at the moment, any chance of a clearer description of what he has been saying?

Is he taking the old 'I'm going to kill myself but I'll kill my wife and kids first' attitude and applying it on a countrywide scale?

What do you mean yes, you weirdo. Saddam had a button that blew up all the oils well? And he pressed it did he?

Any Libyan who lifts an arm will be punished with a death sentence. Anybody who undermines the sovereingty of the state shall be punished with death.

Those who commit crime against the army , or works for a foreign country,, or undermines the defence of the country, will be punished with death. When they are caught and punished this time they will be begging for mercy and we will not be so merciful or forgiving.

Given that he doesn't have the army (which is why he's appealing to his supporters to re-take the lost cities) who is going to blow up the oil wells? The air force? Anybody he tries to persuade to do it, will have to think what cost to them of this last act of defiance; especially when the alternative could be to be recorded as heroic protection of the country's resources?

if he is not there the country will go back to darkness .....the oil .....

hes not got the army ...hes telling the people to re-liberate the towns he has lost

I think we may see a Mubarak style pro regime mobilisation of his "supporters" on the streets. Probably armed with something bigger than rocks and clubs however.

It really, really is just waffling shite. You're getting the most coherent bits.

I missed a bit. work

He was reading from green book a second a go.. No idea what.

We're not leaving the building.

Justifying murdering people for the unity of the nation, just as Americans murdered the Davidians...

He is blatently not talking to the crowd eh, wish we could here him speak

That speech is seriously weird if the translations so far is anything to go by. He's both praising and threatening the rebels/youth, saying he's not president so can't resign, I'm gonna die here as a martyr, blames everything on the US and UK, entered Benghazi to free it.... blablablabobloblaw

Has he lost it? I mean, has he totally lost his grasp of the realities (whatever they might be), or is this some kind of smokescreen? Or is he just preaching to the choir, whatever's left of it?

Hes got 43 soviet hinds ,One mercenary crew with anti tank rounds ? it wouldn't take many ...but its just supposition anyway ....just to spite the west

Is there a better translation avalable than the al-Jaz one? Must be hard as he's talking so quickly and incoherently.

The libyan people don't need to resort to demonstrations, they can go to the people's committee. The Russian rebellion in the parliament was dealt with by tanks. And the Davidian rebellion in America was dealt with by armoured vehicles.

Peaceful demonstrations are great if they are about Gaza. I love peaceful protests, I lead them. Libya's dirty washing shouldn't be on the street. It should be discussed in the congress.

When the black people in California attacked shops they attacked them. When they were in tianneman sq they were crushed. No one can afford to be laughed at like that.
