lefty party predictions

In terms of...what? Expectations, saving deposits, forming a Coalition with Labour...? I ask as someone who might be about to "waste" a vote on one of these

Everyone in my household is voting for the local TUSC guy, me and my fella because of the lack of other lefty choices, and my sister because they had a hot fireman in their party election broadcast. Maybe this means TUSC have a broad appeal in Brent?

Might be a squeeze on with people holding their nose to eject the coalition, and some votes lost to the greens who have been coming at things from more of a social justice angle this election (rather than the bolivian arse-wasp angle).

I predict that the one positive mention of a lefty-party vote on the BBC's election night coverage (perhaps Nellist saving his deposit) will be interrupted by news from south-east suburbia of a surprising good result for UKIP or some more fringe right-wing nutjobs.

Why do people continue saying stuff like this? The Greens have had these sorts of policies for years. You can read their manifesto from 2010 here.

It's not vastly different to their 2015 manifesto. The only things that's really changed is the Lib Dems have lost their position amongst the soft-Left, and some of their supporters have gone to the Greens. That, and a leftward shift in the population in general, which naturally favours anyone whose policies were out in that direction.

In our constituency the TUSC were the only left party (assuming you don't count the Greens) - it's the first time I've voted here but everywhere else I've lived there's been at least three or four to pick from. So I suppose that on it's own might help them get a reasonable share of the vote (save their deposit).

I don't know if that's a noticeable thing elsewhere?

I'm interested to see how the Class War candidates do. Not so much because of their campaign (though I liked the Ian Bone interview on the BBC) but because it'll be interesting to see if they receive more votes than the usual suspects get simply because of the words 'Class War' being on the ballot paper

None of them are going to get fucking anywhere. A total utter waste of time.

TUSC might do a bit better if they didn't have - a shit name, a shit logo, such little publicity, feck all internet campaign, the same shit old-labour blustering types blustering, a shit website (jesus fuck, was it made on Word?) and more than anything the same tired crap old fighting talk "stop the cuts" "make the bosses pay" council blah blah blah bullshit.

Try going on that. People are disappointed and complaining they might only get 15-20% of the vote. Almost a million likes on facebook. On mainstream telly tonight, despite being attacked and targeted by the media extensively. Just totally unthinkable in the UK. The "British left" should save the deposits and do fuck all until it can do something remotely similar.

Are we counting Galloway as left? He'll surely save his deposit even if he doesn't manage to retain his seat.
he's certainly left of labour, but a wanker. He might keep his seat. Everyones been saying he won't since the by, but remember: indefatiguability

There's an spgb candidate here. It's safe labour tho.

Safe tory here ffs. The most progressive candidate we've got here is the greens. always wanted to vote for the SPGB to illustrate how old granddad ossified organisations can run the show, or not...

Dave Nellist might save his deposit. Other than that I'd be surprised.

He will probably keep his deposit for the cov council seat (st michaels) he is running for but i doubt he will keep it for the parliament seat (coventry north west). (hope i'm wrong of course)

Just looking through their YT channel and this is a standout.
This edition of Russia Today's Going Underground, published on youtube on 28 Jan 2015, covered the 'Rise of UK’s Syriza' - a reference to the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC).
I like a bit of chutzpah but this is not on.

Who's going to do well and not so well? TUSC, spgb, left unity, class war etc...

"Great progress made... finished 4th ahead of the Lib-Dems in some obscure ward (31 voters versus 29 for the Lib-Dems).. squeezed by voters returning to Labour... terrified of Tory government... natural disappointment to come from Labour government... people will turn to us... " then follow the same pattern as 1997 onwards. Except for Class War, who will just head down the pub.
