July 2005 London bomb blasts: UPDATES AND NEWS ONLY - NO DISCUSSION

Well if they're dead they're not exactly trapped! Saying "people are still trapped down there" would suggest to me that they are unable to get out due to external circumstances... as opposed to being dead...

Anyway, I certainly hope that people aren't trapped down there.... whether they are dead or alive...

having been asleep all day due to working nights this week i'm now awake and about to go to work.

i feel this will be one of the weirdest nights of my life.

i have so much admiration for what you and your colleagues do, thankyou so much and i hope it's not too horrific

You know it's freaky reading a post like that; I live about two minutes around the corner from there! I can imagine, might pop out for a bit later to get a sense of peoples feelings about this...

I went to Tescos to buy some soap, I ended up talking to a woman who was in tears, she'd not seen any of the explosions but had heard them and was feeling really shaken up at the resulting carnage, she'd walked from soho to Camden and was going to Waltham Forest.

Massive queues in Tescos

Surreal

ITV reporter is saying that this is now a recovery operation rather than a rescue operation.

I hope that's it now... no more...

they seemed quite certain that everyone had been rescued

and said i can`t deny that make your own mind up as fire engines and amulances rushed to the scene so i think he knows

me too, gonna switch telly off, just expert speculation now

People will be much more wary now though, the 'element of surprise' (if you want to put it like that) is well & truly gone now.

Depends where they aim for I think, central London may be on alert, but everyone around my way seems to still be in shock, not thinking that there could be more to come, just hope it's all over :(

On the bbc feed - police confirm that bus bomb was suicide bomber

They still don't know how many died there - this can't be good :(

Safe trips home people.

edit: they seem to have taken this 'confirmation' away quite soon - though it's speculating to be the case this morning.

IIRC the Madrid death toll was 190 - can't help thinking we got off lightly.

Not to take away from the tragedy of the innocent people killed today though.

They're fearing suicide bombers carried out the attacks though.

What the fuck chance did anyone have?

i would say that's a definite.

if they're still not saying how many people died on that bus, it's inevitably going to be because there's an awful lot of them and they have to contact relatives first :(

the figure is going to rise though i'd imagine?

The number from the bus and any of the serious casualties that don't make it will be added on so it will go up. 191 people died in Madrid, still doesn't feel like we got off that lightly.

I thought that included the bus fatalities.
I'd imagine that some of those poor souls on the bus would have been blown to little pieces and some poor sod will have to scoop up all the bits and see how many humans it makes.

An eye witness behind the bus said it was a scene of "carnage".
