July 2005 London bomb blasts: UPDATES AND NEWS ONLY - NO DISCUSSION

Not really no. Merely sensible.

Transport links are being targeted, thus shut down all transport. If they didn't and there was a bomb there...

Hear hear. Much easier to run a properly organised "sweep" of transport if it's stationary.

A few weeks ago i was on a train going to london and two people left a phone under a jumper and then walked out of the carriage, and then the phone rang...we got up and left because we thought it might be a bomb...trial run maybe?

and you never considered reporting such unusual behaviour?

Intresting Edware Rd was selected, opposite Paddington Green nick, where terrorist suspects are interogated. Also Liverpool st, which serves Londons financial district.

Up until the bus explosions, it was still being claimed it was a 'power surge', a cover story obviously invented not to cause panic. Radio 2 were still claiming this at 11am.

Controlled exposions gives the impression it wasnt suicide bombers.

John X -- you may be able to get a bus to the Elephant, if what people say about buses still running normally outside Zone 1 are right.

Then walk to the visa office. Or taxi??

Best phone their landline first, to make sure there is someone there who can help when you arrive.

Already spoken to them. It's all good. Will cycle up there in the next hour.

And as William has already said "Will people stop posting up unsupported speculation and rumours" It only worries people unnecessarily.

A 'device' at Stockwell...apparently the police have informed my son's school nearby to keep everyone inside

Oh my god :(

But has anyone confirmed this device went off???

Earlier speculation sounded as if the BBC was saying a device was found -- which suggests found before going off, and rendered safe/defused, to me.

Think before panicing people.

innit... at terrorist scum, especially after the olympics yesterday!! I'm at school in the library and they have the radio on...I've got tears in my eyes as I'm writing this, it just seems to get worse and worse.

Unlikely, relying on getting signal is a very careless way to set off a bomb, however the timer function is tried and tested. Still, you might want to give a statement at some point, just in case.

Ive just spoken to my sis in Brighton, she says nothing seems to be happening and she works for American Express......she said there was no evacuation or anything

BBC reporting evacuation of Brighton and Swindon stations.

I am not sure if I am safer here or walking

If you're indoors, sit tight.

The whole tube network is closed mate, it's likely that the rest of Euston is too.

Yes. Euston is shut. I came into London, got as far as wembley. A few trains came north before they stopped them completely. No more now.

At the time we didn't really think it was much, we just thought it was a bit odd but we weren't taking any chances, nothing happened to the train anyway...nobody else in the carriage noticed, everyone just stayed on that train...oh g-d :( :( :( i feel awful :(

"Almost certainly Al Qaida" - according to BBC who quote Arab sources responsible for monitoring Arab terrorist networks.
