If anyone has difficulty with the phone network, you can always use a payphone - these are reserved lines in the case of emergency and should always work.
Yeah, sorry, I meant mobile networks have been switched off.

The northern Line was closed when I tried to get on at 7.45 this morning mate

Stig was OK :) -- her journey was completed just before anything happened.

Could only get through to the landline at her company though -- mobiles still clogged up.

Thanks for the source for that Houndsditch story -- please, in general, could people always give sources for any new developments though?

Surreal, my bit of uni is just round the corner (Wates house off Gordon st), was there yesterday.

tried calling her, no response :(
I'm fine honey but the mobiles aren't working.

Just got into the office. Heard an explosion (presumably the Tavistock Square bus) but thought it was thunder. Then left the house to find my street cordoned off and loads of police about. They said there was a package round the corner from me in the station (but I think that was just them being cautious given what happened).

I saw one woman who'd clearly been near an explosion though she didn't seem hurt, just stuff on her face...

Walked in to the office (near Kings X) and saw the traffic and people on the streets and then heard what had happened.

Just trying to find out more now...

I hope all urbanites are safe and sound - its seems unreal down here in the sticks.

I'm really worried about you all in London :(

likewise. my g/f is currently sat at home in brum being very thankful that she moved out of london a couple of weeks ago. my thoughts are with those that still havent been able to make sure friends/loved ones are safe.

We can't get through to Shoreditch police station, all the lines are busy, still can't find out if they want him to go in or not. Does anyone know what the roads are like, we might have to get from Hainualt to at least Bethnal Green if I have to drive him in.

If the mobile netwroks are down does that mean that texts can't get through either? (sorry to be so thick  )

Reuters show statement from EU Presidency Office that 'large number of fatalities in London, thoughts are with the people of London in the fight against terrorism'

Yes, but if the message is sent successfully then it'll probably be queued and get through eventually.
