james purnell hate thread

I was speaking to an official recently who said that he (Purnell) is the most ambitious minister that he's ever worked under, with clear and deep-set desires to get his mitts on the top job.
I've often thought that the most important bar to anyone getting the top job should be any evidence of a desire to hold it.

I think being PM (or maybe even being an MP) should be like jury service. Maybe we need a system that says "do this job or serve the equivalent time in prison" :)

From Wikipedia:

"Paul Diggett, one of James Purnell's political researchers was convicted in January 2004 of downloading child pornography from Purnell's PC, without the MP's knowledge. Diggett was Labour's candidate for Cheadle in 1997, and was suspended from the party following his arrest.[4]"

"Hey Paul, old mate, don't suppose we could swap computers for today? Seems to be something wrong with mine... The keys are sticking.

I have never been one for trying to find 'dirt' on politicians, but in his case would make an exception, he is about 38, there must be people on here who went to uni with him, etc, he is one dangerous fucker.

his punishment for being a first-rate cunt should be to be torn apart by wild single mums.

if he carries on like he is doing, it could well happen...

I bet he's got a ring going the cunt!!

This man has achieved the near-impossible and replaced Damien Hirst at the top of my death list. A truly unspeakable bastard to whom enough unpleasant things cannot possibly happen.

Voted for the Iraq war and therefore will never get my vote.

Did anyone in Labour not vote for it? Whoever didn't - they should be the next leader, tho Gordon looks to be making himself comfy.

Then again the Tories are still the same party as lost power in 1997 - and they have proved that they have no interest in helping the worse off in our society.

Where is the British Obama? Both parties are awful and even the Lib Dems are trying to be the same...

Where are all the new nazi members of the forum? THEY must like him surely? After all he's doing exactly what the BNP would in power - no job? Starve you cunt!

This thread has DIED. It must be the only thread i can ever remember on here where everyone is in agreement and no one even has a go at ME. Jeeezuz whatever next

Which is exactly why he's a bit Millwall, i.e. "no-one loves me but I don't care". He's so ambitious I wouldn't be surprised to discover that he's possessed by the spirit of Niccolo Machiavelli.

He's the type that, if Dennis Skinner was made leader he would suddenly RESPECT the poor. An absolute cunt of the highest order

Ah, gotcha. I have to say that strangely enough, i think he does care and deep down, he desperately does want to be loved. Yet as was proven with the welfare reform GP in the summer, he's also happy enough to be seen as the "tough guy" taking on challenges that others have blanched from.

what did it say? something along the lines of "its not about punishing lone parents, its about helping them realise their potential by making them sign on for jsa and leave their kids wandering the streets alone all day long, whoops, i meant high quality universal childcare places...."

I finally got a letter from this bastard. It was meant to be reassuring but it wasn't.

I got a letter from my MP too which was as vague as vague can be, saying he would fight any moves that punished claimants, but contradicting himself all over the place

I wrote a quite long letter about carers of disabled children being forced into 'back to work' interviews, and about lone parents, and then carers in general (of adults etc) who couldn't get anybody to care for their caree having their money stopped for not being able to even make the interviews.

He replied selectively. Prick.

I'll type it up if I can be arsed.

Can't say that i'm surprised. I've written twice about the local housing allowance scheme and the way that it discriminates against disabled people who need a spare bedroom for their carer to sleep in on overnight stays (the LHA will only pay for a 1-bed flat in such cases, rather than a 2-bed).

Timms didn't bother to reply at all and was then reshuffled out, so i wrote to Kitty Ussher (what a fecking name) since she took over responsibility and guess what? A month later and still nothing, not even an acknowledgement.

I think carers are gonna be the only group he's NOT at war with, at least till after the election....

I think it's shocking when MPs don't respond. To be fair, my local MP always replies and did forward on the letter to the relevant person.

I would try tackling that issue under the DDA, if you know anyone who is being affected like that.

That means FUCK OFF in govt-speak, but at least the bastards know people are outraged at em, and like the cowards they are, it might unnerve them a bit esp with an election coming up

Got them at home tomorrow. They die!

We used to have a fair bit of enmity between us back when I was an Upton Park regular. Twas always fun trying to get back to the tube after a match. :D

Used to go to Orient games occasionally too, just to see how the lower orders lived, like! :p

Nah, he's already fucked the carers off.
What a classy move that was, propose to abolish income support and shift the carers onto jsa, whilst similtaneously reneging on the pledge in the Carer's National Strategy to come up with policies to deal with the chronic levels of benefit that they receive.

What a guy!

That cretin is only a "guy" if you're planning (as I might) to have him as a decoration on the top of a fuck-off massive bonfire next November the 5th.
he's certainly not a "chap", a "fellow", a "guy" or a "human being" in any proper sense of the word. He couldn't be and shit on people in the way he has done.
I'm wondering whether Thatch ever donated some eggs...

We must dare to rethink the welfare that benefits no one
The left has long been blind to the dependency culture that deters adults from flexible work and damages their chlidren.

It seems that Jenni Russell, Guardian Journo and former editor of the World Today supports Purnell, all the cliches and stereotypes are in there. The G is really going down the nick, using regurgitated thatcherism, this article dresses up cutting benefits, etc as good for the claimant and quotes evidence from the Tory Centre for Social Justice! This, on the day that the Gov't own welfare adviser says that to introduce them now would be a disaster. The Islington mafia have really got it in for the poorest in the UK.
