I was speaking to an official recently who said that he (Purnell) is the most ambitious minister that he's ever worked under, with clear and deep-set desires to get his mitts on the top job.Nah. He's a bit Millwall, is Purnell.
I've often thought that the most important bar to anyone getting the top job should be any evidence of a desire to hold it.I was speaking to an official recently who said that he (Purnell) is the most ambitious minister that he's ever worked under, with clear and deep-set desires to get his mitts on the top job.
From Wikipedia:
"Paul Diggett, one of James Purnell's political researchers was convicted in January 2004 of downloading child pornography from Purnell's PC, without the MP's knowledge. Diggett was Labour's candidate for Cheadle in 1997, and was suspended from the party following his arrest.[4]"
"Hey Paul, old mate, don't suppose we could swap computers for today? Seems to be something wrong with mine... The keys are sticking.
who are they?

Which is exactly why he's a bit Millwall, i.e. "no-one loves me but I don't care". He's so ambitious I wouldn't be surprised to discover that he's possessed by the spirit of Niccolo Machiavelli.
Ah, gotcha. I have to say that strangely enough, i think he does care and deep down, he desperately does want to be loved. Yet as was proven with the welfare reform GP in the summer, he's also happy enough to be seen as the "tough guy" taking on challenges that others have blanched from.Which is exactly why he's a bit Millwall, i.e. "no-one loves me but I don't care". I finally got a letter from this bastard. It was meant to be reassuring but it wasn't.
what did it say? something along the lines of "its not about punishing lone parents, its about helping them realise their potential by making them sign on for jsa and leave their kids wandering the streets alone all day long, whoops, i meant high quality universal childcare places...."
Can't say that i'm surprised. I've written twice about the local housing allowance scheme and the way that it discriminates against disabled people who need a spare bedroom for their carer to sleep in on overnight stays (the LHA will only pay for a 1-bed flat in such cases, rather than a 2-bed).I wrote a quite long letter about carers of disabled children being forced into 'back to work' interviews, and about lone parents, and then carers in general (of adults etc) who couldn't get anybody to care for their caree having their money stopped for not being able to even make the interviews.
He replied selectively. Prick.
I'll type it up if I can be arsed.

Timms didn't bother to reply at all and was then reshuffled out, so i wrote to Kitty Ussher (what a fecking name) since she took over responsibility and guess what? A month later and still nothing, not even an acknowledgement.

I think carers are gonna be the only group he's NOT at war with, at least till after the election....
Got them at home tomorrow. They die!
What a classy move that was, propose to abolish income support and shift the carers onto jsa, whilst similtaneously reneging on the pledge in the Carer's National Strategy to come up with policies to deal with the chronic levels of benefit that they receive.Nah, he's already fucked the carers off.

What a guy!
We must dare to rethink the welfare that benefits no one
The left has long been blind to the dependency culture that deters adults from flexible work and damages their chlidren.
