james purnell hate thread

Well Ive just been invited to Zacs Christmas party..........thought it might be a good idea ....to try + get in the mind set.....never know James might even turn up. Toff it with the Tories............best to know and try + understand the enemy.

LIMA what programme....an American one???......why cant we insist on a British programme with actaual disabled and unemployed consulting? Who signed the contract...on our behalf???

The government are making a big mistake. They are undermining the employment market using our money.

If a government creates an unlevel playing field, it won't be long before their citizens attempt to level it with crime, tax evasion, benefit fraud etc.

The government are arseholes who have been raping the economy over time. And now someone has to pay for their criminal administration.

You got it bang on there. Imagine the very few who CAN work but WON'T work. Are they gonna do their community service like good little boys or are they gonna go out shoplifting and robbing ? Cos at the end of the day it's community service whatever they do

With New Labour it's whoever does the most wining and dining or donations to the party i guess. Money is FAR more important than people's well being

what happend to that old fashioned word socialism?

I will make the effort coz thats what James + his ilk....do ......they turn up at social gatherings. He has not showed up at anything to do with.......caring, elderly, poor or single mums in our local boro.

But Ac and James are the same breed,,,,,,,rich, affluent......educated to believe they can lead?

someone sent me this by email, does anyone know where it's from originally? It says "radio 4" at the top but obviously it has pictures....

fucking funny though !!

I'm now learning that Purnell wants to introduce huge interest charges (26% is what's being quoted and bandied around) to people borrowing from the social fund. Currently such loans have no interest charges.

This man's greed and ambition beggar fucking belief! Is there no depth to which this government, late in the day, will now stoop? (Rhetorical question overload!)

Even his policy-suckling pal Chris Grayling opposes this.

they are furiously reigning back on this now they have ben found out, its bloody awful, how much worse can they get.

btw, the Social Fund itself is a right wing invention, it was brought in to replace 'basic grants' for things like cookers, there was fraud, abuse, but people need these things.

When the fuck is what is left of the Left going to speak out about these issues, etc, the BNP are now getting 40% in some working class areas in council byelections, there must be a correlation

DWP as usurious loan shark. Surprise, bloody surprise.

That's what was said about welfare reform and indeed about Flint's idea of tying council housing to work, now it looks like it is coming in.

Watched it last night on BBC2 did you, VP?
Read the strip when it was first published in "Warrior" in the early '80s, bought it when it was first issued as a graphic novel (along with just about everything else Alan Moore has ever written ), saw the film when it was first released, bought the DVD AND watched it on telly last night. :D
Oh, I don't wish Purnell dead (although the thought of him having the life choked out of him a la Creedy does appeal), I'd much prefer him to be rendered disabled, and I'm not fussy about whether it's via disease or physical distress. I'd like him to suffer the same social, economic and physical distress many disabled folk have to deal with every day, see how smug and cocky he is when it's him being fucked over.

*sigh* but he'd still be disabled with money though. It's like the people who think Gordon Brown or Cameron can't be *bad* when it comes to disability because they have children with disabilities/ chronic conditions.

With a bit of luck this will just be a bit of talk and nothing will come of it.

I've already e-mailed my local MP (to be followed by a letter tomorrow) asking him not to support this, as it wouldn't go down well with the large claimant population in his constituency if he did so, nudge nudge, wink wink.

Democracy? Is there not a panic button we can push when politicians go too far?

We don't live in a democracy. This is a pseudo-democracy, a sham that purports to represent the interests of the population, but (while paying lip-service via elections to that principle) actually only represents the interests of the same old hierarchies and powers.
That's why governments avoid plebiscites like the plague; it wouldn't do to actually allow "the people" to have a choice (other than which party of a bunch of similar parties will pretend to represent you) in anything meaningful, would it?

all the people complaining about 'fraud' or systemic 'abuse' make me laugh. This is the system we live in, but it's just a system and why is it intrinsically immoral to play a system. I don't condone taking from others, but it just seems crazy to me. Now the government (or the banks, the super rich, the elite...) want to play the system, well that's acceptable.

Looks like part of this little scheme may have been a step toward privatisation of the Social Fund, because (according to the Politics Show) the idea is/was that local Credit Unions would take over the function from the state.

The issue is "What can we do, to make things better"
Answering 'Nothing, we're fucked' is a victimhood mentality, and is unbalanced, so is basically bollocks.
I must confess, I do not know what to do, at this time.
That, however, is just, that, 'at this time'.
Only a fool would believe the current feelings of helplesness and futility to be fact, and for good.

My disabilities limit me in a practical sense, to a large extent, but that is the same for other people, disabled in some way, shape, or form.
I am open to new ideas, as my confidence is one among many, that needs building, and refreshing, and not paralyzed into powerless with fear by schoolyard-bully-children in adults bodys, who wear suits, and get to sit on the front bench in parliament.

Just because 'now' seems futile, and helpless, does not mean, the future will be, it's just that this fool Purnell wants us to feel that way, and is using the medias negatively swayed news items as tools to keep us fearful, and therefore, less able to discover ways to somehow make this all less of a worry, and a further damage of health to the disabled and vulnerable.
Last thing they/we need, so let's hear some legal, and ethical positive ideas.

And yet, I have a sister (and some friends too) who express absolute horror at the fact I refuse to vote for this lot (or anyone else, for that matter, as there is no major party opposition to this)
