james purnell hate thread

Purnell will not repeat the mistakes of the 80s and 90s. No, he will be making the same mistakes as Canada, which will result in deaths.
Purnell is laying the groundwork for the next tory government as Chris Grayling seems hellbent on sucking his professional cock, frankly.

And a downturn in the economy, and also a loss of revenue for business, due to workplace bullying and law suits, not to mention increased crime and hospital admissions.
sorry no linkage.
Im unable to read articles, Instead I nip in and out of loads, it's the only way I can learn.

They are cutting down on healthcare.
What if they ration/limit undertakers, cremations and grave plotspace, due to some daft future legislation yet to be invented. - Yeah, I know this sounds insane, but today's 'real' news is insane, and would have sounded madder a few years ago.
ps I am on IB and like other days, I have been working, here at home.
Today, I have been knitting blankets for a cat charity. I've been doing this same blanket a while though, as my hands are too bashed in to knit.

Asda already ARE getting workers for free. My ex workmate stopped me in the shop and told me they got a woman on the checkout who's there for 3 months and it costs the company fuck all.

My point is that in some cases they'll not only be getting "free labour" they'll be getting taxpayer's money for taking the free labour on in the first place.

He's been a cunt for a while. he's so up his own arse about how he pulled his own socks up that he's become like one of those boring twats who goes on and on about how if he could do it, so could anyone else (conveniently forgetting that his disability and cause of unemployment was self-inflicted and treatable).

Yep. Like some on here too, conveniently forgetting that not all mental health conditions can be solved with a 'pull your socks up mentality'.

I got a letter from Working Links rambling on about how they dont want to know me anymore........and that NDDP New Deal for Disabled Persons has a new Pathway......waffle waffle..mumbling about voluntary organisations......and finish with contact REED Employment.

A pathway.....more like a maze of money making contractors milking it along the way.

Oh but IF I got a job contact Working Links??? So they could take credit I suppose.

Die or Work Posse. DWP. and I suffer from SSA....Sick of Stupid Acronyms.

OK, I've just heard from a single parent who has children over whatever age it is, and she had an interview today.

Basically she has to get a job. One that will replace whatever benefits she gets for living and the interest on her mortgage.

But where is this job going to come from? From what I have heard, they're pretty much pulling the rug from under her financially.

I can understand the logic behind their thinking, but WHERE is the job going to come from? The timing of this is not fantastic.

Sadly, the government don't seem to care.. however, as long as she's actively looking they can't refuse her JSA.

My friend who is carer to an autistic boy is still getting an unbelievable amount of bullshit off the job centre.. and she doesn't even *have* to look for a job.

Write to your MP its the only way they work....double clout....from CAB and MP. Say how uncomfortable...insecure they feel. It is the way the system slowly works.....letter by letter. Be strong.

I am old and do think of Foucault who studied...at what point do people say enough is enough and .....revolt? When it becomes overbearingly heavy. We are just beginning to feel the pressure.

on the other hand so are others after Madoffs spin.

I also have a relative who has mental health problems. I wonder if the job centre staff will be trained up to assess something which the average GP refers to a qualified psychiatrist?

This is a question I asked my MP to ask the then Secretary of State for Work and Pensions 2 years ago. I only ever received an anodyne "we have received your request" reply.

This is an interesting point. I recently referred a client of mine to a local authority for housing. They were initially refused due to the LA judging their mental health problems to be entirely drug related. This is not something that can be ascertained without a long engagement with the client, which the LA did not have. We had to get a firm of solicitors on board and threaten them with legal action before they accepted responsibility.

I suspect we'll see a lot more of this kind of thing. Jobcentre staff won't be and can't be trained to make these kind of assessments!

Jobcentre Plus don't really do any medical assessments anymore - they have outsourced this function to Atos Origin, who employ healthcare professionals to carry out the examinations and provide reports as to the capacity, or otherwise, of sick and disabled people.

Even so, one appointment is not enough to assess mental health or other chronic conditions.

No, of course not. Even when people provide other detailed evidence from hospital specialists that challenges the "independent" reports from Atos, they still generally have to go through the whole appeals process in order to establish eligibility for benefit.

I've represented people in the past where we have walked into the tribunal and the Chair has allowed the appeal simply on the basis of other medical evidence provided, without even wanting to listen to the person talk about the scale or scope of their impairment - if the Chair can be so easily convinced, why can't DWP make similar judgements when they get the evidence in the first place.

I just looked up Atos Origin. They're an IT consultancy!
The medicals are carried out using a computer programme called LIMA - DWP won't let anyone see LIMA due to reasons of commercial confidentiality. So the healthcare professional simply follows an automated script during the "examination" and a personalised yet largely generic report is the outcome for the individual.

For their healthcare division see here

Are you saying that your provider has changed?

Mine is supposed to be working links, although they have yet to contact me to arrange the appointment (they JC couldn't get them to do it as their systems were down at the time :D).

Too many 'clients' to cope with probably.

I saw an ad on TV the other day, from the DWP telling employers (remember them?) to hire peopel with mental health problems.

Phew, i thought, problem solved!

I got my ear cut by a mentally ill (un diagnosed) collegaue, as she clouted me with a big file, with loads of sharp stuff sticking out.
I'm to blame though, I had no strength to sue the fuck out of the company, and put the nutter out of work.

Maybe if Peter Sutcliffe ever gets released Purnell will force him to work at a DIY shop?

Up to a point I agree with you but I see nothing wrong in havin gthe healthy unwaged work for their money.

.

becasue if there is 5 mil unemployed by 2011 then this will used to hold wages down in both private and public sectors and if you think people should do community work i work agree however then the question is where are the communities? they have been torn apart by the neo con policies of both thatcher blair an brown!

lets put this in context employers with such a big pool of labour are not going to opt to employ poeple with disabilites people with criminal records and those who have been educationally excluded by an education system where those with money buy there children the best education such as buying a house near a good school- when you look at this and add the growth of stazi britain and add a dash of foucults great confinement then you and other urbanites should really see where all this is going -Imo its all about social control not due to some wild anti semitic or ike like theory but rather the fact we are in a global race to the bottom and there is never going to be enough jobs for everyone and this country has never really invested structually in techonology or anything its all been a bout short termism and the profossional class have pulled up the ladder there is no social mobility . Imo the welfare reform and the economic downturn in tandem with the acceptable low educational results of white working class youngsters combined with trendy disdain for such people means we are potentially sitting on a far right timebomb its all a case of if the bnp wil make the most of these circumstances as opposed to the left doing anything at all i have seen herds of zombie goats do more than the left or any liberal radicals so far the welfare reform is just part of a wider return to british victorian form

some cxxx like greggs will soon come along and use the gentic defect argument and apply it to those at the bottom of society esp as crime rockets mark my words

Now the idea of a new party that excludes the swappie scum is a good one.

if only the sad fact here is there sole role of the swappies is to disrupt and ifiltrate and leave get people disinterested in politics someone funds them the same way fucking unite fund purnell  unite make tebbits argument to break the link between uniions and th elabour party as a missed oportunityy

If I was an employer, I would pick the most capable, sane, able bodied, intelligent person that applied for the job. It's common sense. No measure of government incentives would make me think otherwise.

I see your point but the govt are using taxpayers money to give Asda etc workers for free, so even if they turn up for half the shifts they've (the rogue employer) scored

The government are making a big mistake. They are undermining the employment market using our money.

If a government creates an unlevel playing field, it won't be long before their citizens attempt to level it with crime, tax evasion, benefit fraud etc.

The government are arseholes who have been raping the economy over time. And now someone has to pay for their criminal administration.

Thing is:

We should perhaps be asking that age old question "cui bono?".
Who does benefit, and what are those benefits?

As I see it, this reform act has the potential for causing the disintegration of welfare as we know it, a disintegration that may be sold as being the result of economic circumstance, but which has the "side-effect" of semi-privatising welfare provision and other sectors of currently state-run enterprises.
Miraculously, this privatising will be in line with what the WTO are currently pushing.
