The game is afoot

That's what I like to see! Proper man's meal that. Raw potato and beans eaten can and all. GRRR

All we need now is cheese with bean veins and all bean/cheese possibilities will be accounted for.

Excellent work Badgers!

Now....do you take it simply or do you deviate from the mean and start diddling with sauces? I'm a fan of Lea & Perrins on a Cheese Then Beans Jacket Spud, but I can be tempted by a bit of brown sauce when I'm feeling reckless and dirty.

Kept it simple....

AT FIRST  but the cheesebeans are disappointing sadly. They are just like beans bit with a hint of cheese flavour/colour and far from good enough :(

They clearly went down the cheese then beans route, destined to ignominious failure.

If they'd put the beans in the tin, then added cheese on top, you'd only now be recovering from the mind blowing, orgasmic taste extravaganza.

Pah. Rubbish. Everyone knows beans don't go yellower when you put cheese in, they go orangeyer and thicker and gooeyer and sexier.

I hope this isn't entirely inappropriate. It's with slight trepidation that I post an alternative to the great Jacket potato, cheese, beans and cheese meal. Here we go - a potato and cheese dish suitable for anyone with middle class foodie pretensions - sweet potato, goats cheese, pine nuts with a side of rocket.

Apolgies. I lost the plot there. This is proper

Cheese on top FTW!

You'll go far.

I was pleased that the take away, 'Posh Fish', offered a choice. On being offered if I wanted beans or cheese first we had a little chat about it - the guy in the shop told me that I'd be surprised as to how much of a controversial issue it was!

I am shocked that in all this talk of cheeses beans, there has not been a single mention of cheeses, oniony beans. Cheesey beans with the addition of finely chopped onion!

Wow, I finally get to read the legendary "cheese or beans?" thread!!1!

I'm not that keen on baked potatoes, TBH, but on the rare occasions when I have one, it's got to be cheese first, then beans, with maybe some extra cheese to top it all off if I'm feeling extravagent

Now we all know without discussion that cheese & beans is the best filling/combination that can be served atop a jacket/baked potato. Now that we know this for a FACT and nobody disagrees I am curious to understand how Urbanites feel about the order these toppings should be put on the potato.

My personal choice is for the cheese on first and then the beans on top. This is to ensure the cheese is properly melted and works into the flesh of the potato.

However it seems that some people prefer the cheese on top of the beans.

Which side do you take on this important issue?

Quite frankly I don't really give a shit as long as I don't have beans on top of the salad which is basically disgusting and the preserve of those who mash up all the food on their plate together and then stuff it into their stupid toothless face.

Also what the fuck is going on with the butter in that photo? what do they think you're going to do put the butter on top of the cheese and beans, it's meant to go on the potato first, everyone knows that, or is it for spreading on the shite looking salad, it wouldn't surprise me, whoever dished that up is a supreme plonker who clearly hates food and should have no involvement in its preparation ever.

Jacket potatoes in the oven. Have no cheddar though, just some Brie. Got a third of a can of beans, nice gammon ham, can of tuna and coleslaw....

Decisions decisions :hmm:

today i had cheese on top of the potato and the beans on the side. i prefer this when making it myself as it allows for the cheese to really be the dominant flavour.
