Is Elon Musk the greatest visionary or the greatest snake oil salesman of our age?

it is far better i think for a RW to state: I am a right winger. I believe in a free market. Family values, tighther borders. Ask me anything. At least there's a sort of coherence, a sort of unity of principle or something, or some such shit.

than this slimy "get ouf of jail free" card playing JAQ enlightended centrist shite. It's been around decades and it's so shifty. It's obvious he has many right wing beliefs - so what, fundementally, - just come out and say it.

Attempted ambiguity is the whole point, it's aimed at opening a sort of stunted homunculus posing as Socratic dialogue.
there is nothign wrong with contrarianism at all.

it's when the "questions" are always right wing ones that an eye brow should be raised. It's a way out of being blamed for anything, but also, if people were to look carefully, a total lack of integrity.

Ehhh. Contrarianism, as I understand it, is just pretending to hold an unpopular or controversial position for the mere sake of it, rather than because one genuinely believes in said position. It's always the mark of a shithead in my book, no matter what the nominal politics are of the person in question. Left wing or right wing, contrarians are just being dicks.

another fav for that tribe is " when you belive these things you automatically get called a right winger" - that's because they are right wing beliefs you dumbass.
Very true.

"I don't see anything right wing about the AfD's policies against Islamization it's just common sense."

I'd have more respect for his stance if he said something like "the right wing are justified to fear the effects of mass immigration, especially from Muslims", rather than "what's right wing about opposing immigration?"

exactly.

that first example though, he cannot say that, because he hasn't the cahooners. the brand would be disrupted and he might not be able to control the outcome. but he would at least have integrity. Or even a third way - shutting teh fuck up. I can't remember what french philosopher said it in teh sixties but it goes somethign like: "to have no opinion. To have no special insight or claim. To be absoloutly quiet. To have nothing at all to say. I find great freedom here."

there's a total gamification of democracy really at the moment i think - where it truly is less about material change - whether rightward or leftward - but just somehow being a spectacle, being a "winner".

empty, and monitised. Millions of images removed from reality.

oops

Lawyers for Elon Musk on Tuesday moved to dismiss the billionaire’s lawsuit against OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman, ending a months-long legal battle between co-founders of the artificial intelligence startup.

Musk — who co-founded OpenAI in 2015 — sued the company in February, accusing the ChatGPT maker of abandoning its original, nonprofit mission by reserving some of its most advanced AI technology for private customers. The lawsuit had sought a jury trial and for the company, Altman and co-founder and president Greg Brockman to pay back any profit they received from the business.

But OpenAI quickly pushed back against Musk’s claims, calling them “incoherent” and “frivolous” and arguing in a court filing that the case should be dismissed. The company also published a blog post that included several of Musk’s emails from OpenAI’s early days. The emails appeared to show Musk acknowledging the need for the company to make large sums of money to fund the computing resources needed to power its AI ambitions, which stood in contrast to the claims in his lawsuit that OpenAI was wrongly pursuing profit.

Nearly all Twitter ads I see have community notes warning of scams, other than ones not actually selling you stuff (Government or charity health campaigns).

Apparently all the ugly tesla trucks have been recalled again because of a windscreen wiper issue. Also seen a couple more reports of people getting locked in them when the battery fails and not knowing how to get out.
