As for defending Musk, damn right I am. If it's him or the EU, it's him I'll trust.
If you want centralised unaccounatable entities like the EU to decide what you can and can't say on the internet, then you've got issues.

Musk is trying to get us to Mars. Defends free speech against an unholy alliance centralised powerful entites trying to take that away from us.

As for gated communites, yep, they're great for those who don't want to live anywhere near middle class liberals.
Where I live isn't a gated community. Everyone getss along. But to be brutally honest, if it were a choice between 2000 asylum seekers arriving in my town or 2000 middle class liberals, I'd rather have the asylum seekers.
The middle class liberals would have the community fractured and divided, presenting themselves as the fucking solution to everything. Fuck that.
That's different from setting up systems where things are censored wholesale before the user can even publish.
The EU's end game is to have everyone verify who they are with a digital identity before they can post anything on social media.
Is that something you support?
Everyone seems to have forgotten that anonymity is crucial for whistleblowers.
Twitter used to shape it's policy around protectign whistleblowers above all else.
Nowdays, it depends on who's doing the whistleblowing.
If it's all been hacked and embarasses the right then that's good journalism and there is a public interest, but if it embarasses the left, then the way it was obtained is an issue (when it wasn't when it embarassed the right) and it's taken down.
There's double standards at play, but hey, everything anyone on the right says, is spouting misinformation and conspiracy theories, that needs shutting down ASAP< while everything that comes from the left, is whistle blowing and needs much more focus in the town square of public debate, because you know, it's in the public interest to see what the evil right is hiding.....
It's getting to the point where if you don't agree with the establishment narritive, it's misinformation.

Jesus imagine going through life thinking Musk, a man who'll literally make up an entire pretend transport system to avoid using the bus, doesn't hate working class people. And that Musk, a man who's repeatedly fired his staff for saying things he doesn't like, kowtowed to belligerent regimes to censor their opposition and who kicked the radical left off his social media platform on the basis of a list made by fascists, actually means it when he says he's "pro-free speech." Just imagine being that level of self-deluded. Somewhere there must be a tiny part of that person that just cringes.

I actually think this has been the most revealing of all Staker's interventions, the place where his pretense at desiring liberty meets the reality of him loving the idea that what can and can't be said through one of the largest platforms on the internet is controlled by the whim of an arbitrary-minded tycoon.
