Ireland Election 2020

There was a AAA/PBP candidate in Mayo last time round. Any word on him running again?
Nearly 600 first prefs in 2016. They have a different one this time. Saoirse McHugh is running in Mayo for the green traitors and might do well based on her euro vote but its solid FF/FG land isn't it.

Cark has a different class of headbanger. John Donahue - independent republican - cork south central.

I dunno if anyone's done a list. Justin Barrett's lot has 11 running. Plenty of money from somewhere.

This hints at least some sort of "hands across the divide" among the splitters:

Jim Dowson has his paws all over them

Interesting article from Independent Left about Dublin Bay North clearly they think they can get a seat especially as Broughan stepping down and the greens standing a pro lifer, although they think the green will win a seat.

Forgot that the career politician Cian O Callaghan was standing. Hope he loses.

An elderly man died after he fell off a trolley in a and e last week. He was found on the floor and his neck had broken from the fall.
Last week 90 patients were on trolleys in corridors in one of the bigger hospitals. Overcrowding and inhumanr conditions. Patients can be on trolleys for days. And they dont qualify for hospital meals so they dont get breakfasts or dinners etc. They get handed a bun or a sandwich.

The situation is appalling. Staff are completely exhausted. Desperately trying to help and do their jobs in awful conditions. No wonder nurses trained here by the state leave and work in other coutries. Same with doctors.

The whole mess is appalling. And it's been wrong for over 25 years. FF fucked us over and closed 1000s of hospital beds in the boom times. FG failed miserably to open those beds again.

Fucked up.
Useless politicians the lot of them. Not one of the parties is worth their salt. All out for themselves.

A complete overhaul is needed...everywhere.

Well said and that could easily be said here about the UK

This guy is running in Mayo - no idea what his politics are though.

That's John Lyons who was AAA-PBP in 2016. He's running against not one but two 'Solidarity'-PBP comrades this time.

Cursed image here. Waters competed in the globalist carnival of sodom that is the eurovision song contest in 2007 but he's gotten away with it so far.

Other standout loons include John Bowler (Kerry) an old American who says he should be able to murder abortion seeking women to save the child and David "Irish Chariot" O'Reilly (Galway East) who as the name suggests thinks he lives in cuchulainn times and dresses accordingly.

Waters is looking deader everyday.

Lyons got 8k plus last time round and neither Mulvey nor O’Brien though their both good candidates will do well enough. The Solidarity PBP speaking rights unity is daft as hell, I don’t understand how they can’t lash together some kind of electoral pact.

He was banging on about fertility rates yesterday and great replacement stuff at their do. Barrett's holocaust memorial day was ruined as he couldn't get in.

PBP's site crashed after the telly thing last night due to RBB saying things that normal people agree with.

Nobody's going to click on it let alone sit through even a fraction of the two hours of it but I'll leave it here. Trigger warning for lots of cow talk.

Looking like an FF/SF coalition might be a possibility. SF would be mugs to go into coalition as the junior partner - they'd be mudguards par excellence, given their history - and they might well end up squandering the electoral base they've built up over the past 15 years.

Agreed but the idea of being the party of government north and south might be too strong for them, a United Ireland through Mary Lou. I'm finding the inability of Labour to rise from the ashes truly heartening, it must be galling for the pundit class that have been talking them up for the past few months that voters seem to remember the betrayals of labour and seem to be happy to see them flatline. Hopefully theplug will be pulled and on the social democrats too.

I think the Social Democrats will have enough middle class urban, (relatively) young voters to keep them going.

Fine Gael are in turmoil. Catherine Noone calls Leo ‘autistic’ then continues to dig a hole for herself by trying to clarify what she meant -

Shortall is v.popular in Finglas. But when she jacks the SDs will fold because what's the point of them. Saoirse McHugh from the windswept hellscape of Achill having a go in Mayo. The shitness of the greens hasn't registered yet so she's in for a shock especially if they go in with FF/FG.

I still find the idea of anyone radical like that in Mayo hard to get my head around. Johnny Mee was old school old labour, but you wouldn't have got him talking about revolution like that.

The point of them is that they're the "Centre-left" option for people who aren't daft enough to swallow Labour. I think I've mentioned this before, but when I was doing opinion poll work in 2010 I kept coming across middle-class types who were unemployed for the first time in their lives (2008 and all that) and who were beside themselves with rage - and who all told me they were going to vote Labour as a result.

What a surprise they shortly got.
