Sky is reporting Pentagon claims that groups of Iraqi soliders have been spotted in full chemical suits, handling 50 gallon drums, on the approach to Baghdad:eek:

True or false?

Can't be true. Saddam doesn't have any WMDs. Has he?

Well seeing as every single piece of 'news' over the past week regarding Iraqs WMD has turned out to be complete shite I fully expect this to be no different.

e.g - use of SCUDS, repeated stories of Iraqi troops being 'about to use chemical weapons' and finds of 'chemical warfare kit' turgning out to be a dozen old gas masks.

The military spokethings are now rowing back on the claim that two uk troopers were 'executed'.
Still it allowed Blair to generate a sutiably hatemongering stpory and sun headline by exploiting the deaths of two luckless squaddies - so job done.

Its getting to the stage where we cannot believe a single word the military are saying. Amazingly the claims coming from Iraqs stalinist police state have turned out to be consistantly credible whilst the the exact opposite is true for the 'free democracies'.

Reports suggect iraqi troops have fired mortor rounds injuring civilians trying to escape basra. British tanks close by so the motive still unclear.

PS hopefully this thread can be cleaned up if it is ever archived as certain selfish gob-shites who want to try and impress with there crappy wit and are effectively polluting what once was an interesting roll of events.

Ms. Adie made the startling revelations during a discussion of media freedom issues in the likely upcoming war in Iraq.

Kate Adie has no credibility left as a journalist. In the last Gulf War she went totally 'native' with the UK armoured division and started 'squealing' about how wonderful and powerful it all was.

Lost her objectivity completely over a 48 hour period.

iraqis coming back from Jordan

News24 - press conference guy from NBC just asked for information about reports of 1000's of expat Iraqis returning to fight from Jordan, against the coalition...here we go again....

1445: Britain's Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Mike Jackson, says the Iraqi army in the south of the country is "pinned down".

1430: The main headquarters of the Ansar al-Islam militant group in the mountains of north-eastern Iraq is overrun by thousands of Peshmerga Kurdish guerrillas, backed by US special forces and air support.

from BBC website

1515: Windows of British embassy in Iranian capital Tehran smashed following anti-war protest by thousands of people.

BBC website.

Right now on Sky News there is a discussion with Iraqis who have suffered under Saddam.

Actually, it appears to be more of a news conference with Iraqi refugees included.

I was half listening to Radio 4 late last night when a USA official was being interviewed on the possibility of using Chemical/Biological weapons to clear out Baghdad:eek:

Anyone else hear this??

^

Uranium depleted shells (i.e. mini-dirty bomb) could come under the definition of a chemical weapon .......... the definition depends whose side you are on at the moment.

Retalitory rockets attacks by iraq army from another soon to be famous town in the middle of iraq (Chamchamal).

Bunker Buster bombs have been dropped on a Ba'ath party office. 8 people, including civilians, are believed to be dead. Many of the surrounding houses were also destroyed.

Re the possibility of using Chemical/Biological weapons to clear out Baghdad

Yes, I read somewhere that Rumsfeld would not rule out the use of non-lethal gas similar to that used by Russian special forces recently which killed over 100 the hostages they were attempting to rescue!

These monsters will stop at nothing in order to liberate the Iraqi people from their OIL.

BBC website says "dozens" of civilians.

Also that the US is accusing Syria of supplying military equipment to Iraq, a "hostile act".

That's right lads, spread the war, that'll work. . .

If you want the best example of independent, objective and impartial reporting of this war then go to France 2 or France 5.
Both are available on Sat. TV ( Astra and Eutel)
Need to understand French but their reporting is fair.

Channel 4 reporting another market near Shula in Bagdad has been hit with 55 people reported dead and more trapped under the rubble. MSN news BBC news
Officials in Quatar are trying to blame it on an Iraqi misfire again. Of course our sides missiles would never land in the wrong place -oh apart from this one in Turkey today. Another report on US missile hitting Turkey
boston

Yup! Just caught the announcement on the news about the second market bombing. Disgusting! What I was quite surprised about was that the 6:30pm 24 hour BBC News presenter (Can't remember his name) told the viewers something along the lines of " Please remember that the actual images you see have been edited by the BBC due to them containing the bodies of dead and injured women and children"....Kinda makes the confirmations made within the report far more true.

I wonder if Sky News would have made the same comment?

It looks very much like the coalition of the venal have begun deliberately targeting civilians. These two attacks on busy working class market area are too close together to be accidental. These monsters are increasing the degree of barbarity inflicted on the civilian population as an incouragment to surrender and a punishment for resisting them en masse.

grasshopper,

I'm sure that the "no direct links" rule applies to other boards, not news articles.

It is a real pain to copy and paste the address into another window then edit it.

Please post the news links correctly.

Thanking you in advance!!!!

"[...] Rumsfeld also said that Iraqi militants opposed to Saddam Hussein's regime were streaming into Iraq from Iran, where they had been in exile. He said their presence was complicating U.S. war plans."

...as things get nastier in the coming days and weeks i wonder how many other arabs will come to "stop the crusaders"?? ... ugly
