Hot upcoming gigs

Saw Pulp last night at Hammersmith Odeon - probably the best stage show I've ever seen... loved to know who designed it.

Only problem was that at times it felt like I was watching it through a wall of iPhones.

Going to see The Streets in Manchester in October :) A new album too, and a film!
Was contemplating going to see him in Notts- but can't justify the price tag. Maybe I'm being stingy, but when tickets for Comet is Coming were £35 (ish) at Somerset House and other gigs at Rock City cost just half the price, I have to question it.

Lyon grinders Civilian Thrower are touring this month:
29/08 Brighton
30/08 Leicester
31/08 Manchester
01/09 Glasgow
02/09 Edimburgh
03/09 Carlisle
04/09 Lincoln
05/09 Nottingham
06/09 Leeds
07/09 Bristol
08/09 London, Chimpy Fest

Chimpy Fest looks decent if anyone's in London and wants to listen to a lot of grind.

I'm at Rebellion in Blackpool and the couple who run the b and b keep engaging me about it. Earlier:
Who are you seeing tonight?
The Subhumans.
Oh, err, right. Well, have a good time.

40 odd years on, punk not so much shocking as bemusing people. :D
Enjoyed what I saw of them but missed the start due to a phone call. Last time we were in a B and B the owner kept complaining about all the veggie sausages she had to buy.

Who you seeing tomorrow?

Must admit, I'm struggling to find many I know or like today. It'll be ferocious dog and gimpfist early on and then the ruts later on. I'll say hello if you are around.

We're aiming for ferocious dog maybe gimpfist. The wife really like Gimpfist for a while but has gone off them. The 7 year old wants to see ghost dance because it's a funny name then TV Smith and friends. Depending on who comes out after bedtime maybe Only Ones and Die Toten Hosen.

Bit late now, but Tokky Horror are worth seeing if you fancy staying up late. Saw Flores Y Fuego from Mexico while they were here and would recommend them, but looks like they were on earlier this afternoon.

Years and years back, me and a few friends went over to NI to go to a crust festival, and one of my friends was also visiting her grandparents while we were there. Led to this slightly odd scene of the three of us sitting around in their living room, while her grandparents asked "Oh, a punk festival? Is that the music where they make themselves be sick on stage?"

Cheers, but ageing has kicked in and I've bailed out. Managed 12.30 first night, 11 last night and 9 tonight. :(

I thought I watched Flores Y Fuego but actually watched clockwork psycho as one pf the stages changes name. They were a good psychobilly band. I listened to Flores Y Fuego when I for back to the flat. Sounded good also. Mainly when I got back I listened to the Dolly Parton tribute next door. It's Bob Vylan day today.

Yeah, Vylan was the main name that stood out to me from looking at today's listings, at least of vaguely new/contemporary bands. I remember Coughing Vicars being fun live as well.

Heading back to the ballroom and staying put. Was packed for Vylan last year at 1 in the morning could be 1 in 1 out tonight. Kind of fancied the Voodoo Glow Skulls but not chancing it. Will be up on the balcony probably playing with lego or something if about.

Be careful coming out. Coppers everywhere vans and mounted units. Been after a fight all weekend. Saw them push an old guy over Friday night and arrest his partner as well as hassling kids (locals) at the park this afternoon.

I came out maybe 10 mons after you and the cops must have gone elsewhere. Have seen them ready for action a few times over the weekend though. Maybe they'd heard what Bob Vylan was saying about them. :D
BV was fucking excellent, so powerful and a great sound with the bass cranked up. First time I've seen him/them live, had to leave early last year. Like how he handled the fact that most of the audience were white and maybe less angry than in their heyday.

Yeah, he's definitely got the gift of the gab. They were brilliant last night but I thought there was something special about last year's set that was missing. One of those magic moments hard to recapture.

As are Cloud Rat:

Between Eyehategod, Chat Pile, Cloud Rat, and then Full of Hell a few weeks later, mid-August is looking really busy for "noisy bands who I would quite enjoy seeing but would also not be too completely devastated if I end up missing". I suppose if there's Arctangent and then another metal festival happening in Glasgow that partially explains it, the same way that the weeks before and after Rebellion are always busier with touring punk bands.
