Have you had the vaccine WITH POLL

Have you had your first Covid jab?

Can I be nosey and ask whether those getting their first jabs recently have particular medical issues or are just having them on the basis of age (and if so, how old they are)?

I'm 56 with no medical issues and I'm trying to get an idea of when I might get an invitation to the party.

Are you Hackney? My s-i-l got hers this week in Hackney. She's 61. (No medical issues).

Medical issues. I think you're maybe over the border but a good friend in Hackney (57, no health issues) hasn't heard anything yet either.

Talk about timing, I have just logged on to post this: Booking now open for 56+!

Yeah, I live in Haringey, so the next door Health authority.

I haven't been at work the past couple of weeks (leave and at-home- online-training) but when I last heard my colleague who's in his 60's and has diabetes, and lives in Hackney, hadn't heard anything either.

So have you received a letter?

And can I ask where you are, I realise that not every area will be as far through it.

Not my turn yet sadly. Have you checked the link? I think there is a little bit of confusion around the booking. editor posted a link a little while ago about over 60s now being eligible, and someone on here booked following that link, but was worried about potential queue-jumping.

But as I understand it, if you are eligible per the criteria on the website, you can book. You only have to wait for the letter if you are not yet in the age band, or not in the other criteria.

ETA:
Now that I've looked at that link, it appears to say that everyone 56 and over is eligible, whether they've had a letter or not.

Have I got that right?

Yes, I think so.

Thanks for posting that, but when I put in my NHS no. & DoB all I get is a page saying - 'We cannot find which coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine you should have from your vaccination record.' - well, of course not, that's why I am trying to fucking book my first one.

Yes, I think so.

Website says:
Everyone aged 56 and over can get the COVID-19 vaccine.

You can book appointments at a larger vaccination centre or pharmacy now, or wait to be invited to go to a local NHS service.

So if there's a pharmacy reasonably local, I might do that...

Just saw something on Twitter saying it was now open to people who are 56!

Tried the 119 helpline, and they can't book me, because they are getting the same message.

They think it could be because the website hasn't been fully updated yet for the over 55s, and suggested I tried again tomorrow.

Has anyone over 55 had this problem or were you able to book?

Well that was a pretty slick operation, really well drilled operation
It was the AstraZeneca one.
My arm was sore almost immediately and continues to be, my whole arm is just shy of feeling like a dead arm, my nose started running within about 15 minutes and still is too, my wife had hers y/day and she's been fine.

andysays my wife and I are both 50, she has high blood pressure but I'm not sure if that's a reason to get a jab so early, I suffer from diverticulitis and have hemochromatosis (I start venesection on Tuesday) but I'm not sure if either are classed as underlying medical conditions. We do live in a deprived borough so maybe that plays a part.

Hope you're fine Numbers

Can you stick a YES on the poll at the top of the page when you're ready, ta.

That's what 12 days ago? My arm was numb & weak for 4 or 5 days. No other side effects.

Still had to move boxes around at work. I got tired quicker.

Slept like a log the first couple of night after but that may have been relief tbh.
Similar to me - although the sore arm had largely gone after 24 hours. Slept heavily for the first couple of days too.

Right now, I'm in Happy Days Land :) :)

Just received the Magic Vaccine Letter ( -- I'd expected a text ... but not as soon as this, anyway! )

10 am this coming Wednesday (10th March).
This is a working day -- I'd much rather not take it as a day off, but would it be safer to do that, just in case of side effects??

(and I'll be able to vote on this thread soon!! :) )

:)

Most side effects seem to be taking 6-8 hours to start.

Presumably they would let you go home if it affects you ?
for me it took 4 hours - and it didn't really crank up until a fair bit later ...

Just booked an appointment for my first jab at a local (half a mile away) pharmacy for Friday 26th March, and a second on Thursday 17th June.

Sue, one of the other suggestions was the Clockwork Pharmacy in Mare Street; maybe that would be convenient for your friend.

A few weeks ago I found some league table and the 'North London Healthcare Partenership' was near the bottom in terms of roll out - so I assumed it was just Haringey being crap as usual..

Anyway - I am still waiting... early 50s so I figure not long now..

Here are the up to date stats sorted according to the 65-69 age category:

North London Health Partnership climbing up to 39/42 - though I guess takeup probably has something to do with it..

I, for one, am not in the least bit suspicious of all those 100% figures in the 75-79 bracket.

What's the asterisk for? "We're guessing"

Im 63, no medical conditions (unless you count mostly bald) Had my first one (AZ) at 11.00 this morning no symptoms so far. All very slick and organised. Straight in, asked a few simple questions like what is your name?, what is your quest? What's the airspeed of a swallow?
and the needle was unceremoniously jabbed in my arm.
There was a small army of people directing the car park and the queuing, The guy who pointed out to me where to park had one of those huge foam rubber hands you see at footie matches to point with.
One of the guys inside organising the queues was Eldest Q's FiL who has volunteered at the hospital since being forced into retirement on the grounds it was cheaper to replace him with someone younger.
Thanks for this I am married to a much younger woman (Mrs Q is 58) so I will tell her to get booked forthwith

PS to the above :)

After messing around with my phone for a while this afternoon (getting through on the local NHS line was an issue :hmm: ), I was able to get the day and time of my appointment tweaked until the day after ...

So my Jabarama Experience! will now be 8:45 am this coming Thursday, 11th March :)

Much better, because after the vaccination, I'll get to work a lot earlier, and Thursday will be (with my no-working-Fridays pattern), the day before four days off = a four-day recovery from side-effects
(as I'll also have another bonus Monday [15th] off at the end :) )

Vaccinated and part time? Beer may get drunk for some reason or other :p

As now ....
