Glastonbury 2010 - 40th Anniversary

oh fuck it...... im still tempted even tho its £195

shall i buy the ticket and hope i get a job where i can take the time off before then? If not i'd have to go on the friday afterwork and leave on the sunday night

I have a term time contract. June is still in term time

besides that i get 10 weeks leave per year :D

Ha! Campervan tickets for Glasto now cost more than people tickets for most other festivals! :D

Get the ticket! June's a long way off, you never know what might happen between now & then... how would you feel if you were sitting at home knowing you could've gone if only you'd bought a ticket.. - and it's not like you wont' be able to go at all. :)

What, more than, say, a tractor being on it? And £30 per van more than it did 10 years ago? And more than twice what it costs for any other festival held on farmland?

I think it's down to limited space more than anything. Prolly the only reasonably flat space near a road.

sounds like a good plan, would suit us much better to leave later.
I may stay at my mates in shepton the night before this time anyway, shes 5 min from the site:)

Cant wait to get my ticket!!:)

So bearing in mind no camping in the car parks/sleeping in cars (health & safety), if you arrive the night before where do you sleep, if not in the car park?

ETA ( sorry if i've missed something obvious, Im really tired)

Yep, you're not wrong! I cant recall many major announcements about traffic disruption last year so its probably a cunning plan by Benn and Eavis to balloon the fest even longer and bigger. Clever bastards!

No complaints here :D

Well, yeah that's what I was thinking. I don't know that it changes anything except the time of the queues? Maybe it's to try to have cars queuing at night when it's quieter, rather than during the day when people are trying to go about whatever it is they do that earns them money (like driving lorries up & down to quarries).

Im not that bothered tbh, my car is really comfy to sleep in, I'll probably get a better night's sleep if I go Tuesday & sleep in the car than if I leave at silly o'clock Wednesday morning... :)

ETA : bold @ moose's post..

Rosco, I did hear reports of really bad traffic problems from people on site last year, (although not on the radio) - in fact Im pretty sure that LMHF & Pennimania were both caught up in it, especially Pennimania. She finally got on site at about 3pm, she'd been on the M5 for hours iirc. :(

I can't believe there will be any sleeping in cars of the masses allowed. Eavis would be a mug to allow this. The overkill health and safety risks on paper at the Pilton village hall in 2011 would be a nightmare to contend!

Gates will open Tuesday....

Its a 6 day fest folks, GETTTTTTTTTTTT INNNNNNNNNNN! :D

I was thinking about H&S as well - you can't camp in the car park Weds - Sun, but the Tuesday is OK? I dont' think so! :D

I don't really mind whether it's confirmed or not Paulo - I need to take Tuesday off anyway to drop the cat at the cattery if nothing else. If the gates open 12 hours earlier I'll leave 12 hours earlier. If they don't... I won't. So long as I know what Im doing by the time comes around to leave, it's all good. :)

I'll obviously be back again, mainly for reasons everyone has given, but also because it's the epicentre of the UK festival scene. In the same way that the comedy industry decamps to Edinburgh in August, the festival industry implodes into Pilton for those immense five days. Almost everyone I want to catch up with is there.

Almost like an annual conference, except that noone really remembers very much afterwards. :)

THIS ^^^^ is soooo true:D

Anyone else up unfeasibly early today to buy tickets? As the minutes count down towards 9 the tension mounts....

They made the buying site live early last year - a friend managed to get through and buy his tickets at 8:45- but doesnt seem to be the case this year

aaaaaaaaaaagh, we're unprepared. anyone got the phone number-we can't get on glastonbury website.

Woo hoo! Got tickets! Now just tension until confirmation email comes through

Number Ive got is 01159934138
