Head of Greater Manchester Police's Professional Standards Branch Detective Chief Superintendent Mike Allen said: 'Given Hardy contested the indictment he faced at the crown court, we were unable to proceed with hearing such matters within the regulated police disciplinary system. He was nevertheless suspended from Greater Manchester Police.

'Now that Hardy has been convicted, he will face disciplinary proceedings, and as the public would rightly expect, he will not be paid a wage by Greater Manchester Police during the time it takes for his case to be heard.'

The Met have paid out substantially damages to two women arrested at the Sarah Everard vigil:

One was convicted via the Single Justice Process without her knowledge and only found out because she wZ contacted about it by the media.

The Met have also apologised, for all that means.

Does anyone know how the “substantial damages” paid by the Metropolitan Police to Patsy Stevenson and Dania al-Obeid compares with the amount paid by the Metropolitan Police to another woman in this case?

And whilst, we're talking about payouts made by the Met, this chap had received a six figure settlement after being hit on the head with a police baton back in 2010 whilst peacefully protesting against tuition fees. It's taken until now (13 years including a four year IOPC investigation) to resolve the case.

The article says 'hit' I would dispute that as 'attacked' given he needed brain surgery and had over 100 staples. He nearly died.

No disciplinary action as no single officer could be identified as the attacker.

Former PC Robert Marshall

Police officer sacked after choking semi-naked woman until she passed out at hotel - Liverpool Echo

A misconduct panel concluded former constable Robert Marshall "lost his composure" with the "vulnerable" woman, who was drunk and covered in salad cream, after being called to the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool City Centre over concerns that her boyfriend had assaulted her. However body worn video footage showed that when the woman tried to push past PC Marshall, getting salad cream on his uniform, he grabbed her around the throat, shouting "don't f****** grab me or I'll break your f****** neck."

A short time later, when she tried to avoid being handcuffed, the jiu-jitsu trained officer pinned her against the wall of the hotel corridor, with his forearm against her throat, for 11 seconds until she passed out and fell to the ground.

Lot more detail in the story.

What was most disturbing about that case was a) he applied force for 11 seconds until she passed out and b) the Crown Prosecution Service decided there were no criminal charges to answer, despite there being a case of gross misconduct.

This is not the first time the CPS have shown themselves to be reticent to look at pressing criminal charges in this kind of situation and that absolutely needs to change.

PC Daryl Marley of the Met's Central West Command Unit has appeared in court and remanded for assault by beating and harassment of a man and woman.

The trial of PC Daryl Marley of the Metropolitan Police has now commenced:

Metropolitan Police Officer insulted ex-girlfriend and threatened to knock out another Metropolitan Police PC in bar, court told

When your defence brief is left relying on stuff like this, it's maybe time to hold off paying the deposit on next year's holiday just yet awhile:
Campaspe Lloyd-Jacob, defending, said Marley did not threaten Mr Evans and said: “Go and sleep in your car, you prick”.

She acknowledged the words “f*****g slag” but disputed the exact sentence used by Marley towards Ms Shearman.

so 3% of the Met are suspended or on restricted duties ?
so how many are sweating because they are next or worked with these people and knew what they were like?
It's not a normal Job your allowed to use violence against people, you mix with criminals and will possibly face temptation every day either form bribes having the proceeds of crime or even lost property pass through your hands.
even in my job I've been offered bribes! although offering £50 to avoid a £25 ticket is a bit  just move you car.
The Met have failed to vet people properly and have taken standards as a suggestion.

Two more who saw their access to victims of crime as sexual opportunities

Merseyside PC Adam Hoyle

Convicted last week of five counts of misconduct in public office (MIPO) and computer misuse offences. To be sentenced on October 27th.

Merseyside Police officer who had sex on duty guilty of misconduct in public office - Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC)

He formed inappropriate relationships with three women he met after they reported being a victim of crime. In two of these cases, PC Hoyle visited them while on duty, and travelled in a police vehicle, to have sex. On one of those occasions, in October 2016, he was supposed to be looking for a high-risk missing person at the time. We also found evidence he attempted to initiate a sexual relationship with another woman.

After media coverage of the initial charges against him three more women came forward. As a result he was charged with a further offence of MIPO and convicted of it last week. There is an ongoing IPSO investigation in relation to his contact with the other women.

Former West Mercia PC Alex MacPherson

A misconduct hearing yesterday concluded that MacPherson would have been sacked without notice if he hadn't resigned earlier this year. He has been put on the banned list.

Former West Mercia officer would have been dismissed had he not quit - BBC News

Ex-West Mercia Police officer would have been dismissed for inappropriate relationship - Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC)

[He had been] accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a woman and attempting to form a sexual relationship with another woman. Both were victims of crime he met through his policing duties. (...) the 55-year-old began a relationship with one of the women shortly after she reported being assaulted in August 2018. In the first two months, he exchanged over 300 messages with her on his work mobile phone. The relationship lasted for three years.
(,,,) he attempted to form an emotional or sexual relationship with another woman who had been the victim of an assault at her place of work. In March 2021, in the space of a few weeks, he sent an excessive and unnecessary number of text messages to her, which were of a personal nature. The woman told our investigators that he repeatedly turned up at her workplace, behaving in an over familiar manner which made her very uncomfortable.
