The reality is that if Cllr Abrams had voted against the budget, the Lambeth Labour whips would have tried to frame him again and serve up his third suspension. Not attending doesn't look great, but he was backed into a corner. At least he didn't put his name to the savage cuts. His absence from the chamber was noted, with much goading from some of the New Labour twonks. Cllr Mark Bennett did mention it on twitter with some scorn, but he has since appeared to delete his tweets...
