F1 2020

What do people want from F1, there was a massive accident with a huge fireball, a car upside down, an engine blow up towards the end of the race and loads of overtaking and that was boring

I was being slightly tongue in cheek that the middle 45 laps were quite pedestrian compared to the fireballs and tumbles. I was quite pleased to see it after the first few laps! ;)

Maybe having the live data and live track position map running makes it more interesting to see the cars catching each other and the gaps closing, I'm also trying to get all the radio traffic but have run out of equipment for now, I'll be sure to have it all working for next season if i can find enough plugs and wires ;)

Watching it on Brazilian TV with headphones plugged in the laptop listening to Sky (delayed by up to 2 minutes at times) and watching the tracker/timing screen tends to mean I always have something of interest to keep me busy

Watching with my wife, who is a new fan to F1, was great today. Watching her emotions at both crashes, she was very worried about Grosjean, and Stroll, and so pissed off for Perez, it made the race very interesting.

She is already able to identify the cars and drivers, and can outline tyre strategy, although not yet in great depth. I hope it is going to be a long term interest.

One of the commentators said that all the radio chatter is available on the F1 app so I might give that a go.

My old lady is well into it also so we always have a great time watching all the action together, makes it a better experience

Yes it is, the app is worth getting it has loads of good information also Formula1.com has loads of interesting stuff that helps during the race

"Update - 22:35, 29.11.2020

Following medical evaluation by doctors at the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) Hospital Haas F1 Team driver Romain Grosjean will remain in hospital overnight to be treated for burns sustained on the back of both hands after his opening lap incident at the Bahrain Grand Prix. All X-rays performed on Grosjean came back clear of fractures.

Updates will be given when further information is available."

Just watching the C4 highlights show and DC is rather less forgiving of Mr Grosjean's right hand turn across Kvyat than most.
It seems to be a very strange move, so much so that I wondered if something went wrong with his car. The turn across Kvyat had no other explanation that I saw at the time. If that wasn’t the case it was a move beyond my comprehension.

Karun showed a piece of debris heading for his front right wheel just beforehand but there is clear movement of his steering wheel to the right directly after that so not sure it had any effect. Will be interesting to see what the investigation shows.

That doctor deserves a fucking medal, that was hot where he got stuck in.

This weekend - the meat in the Middle East sammich. It's Bahrain II - the sequel.

As Sky jerked me around last week by putting duff timings online, then correcting them behind my back, with the sole intention of triggering my timekeeping OCD,, I have double-checked the timings for next weekend.

In the UK the (somewhat weird) timings are:

Fri 4 Dec
FP1 - 13:30
FP2 - 17:30

Sat 5 Dec

FP3 - 14:00
Qual - 17:00

Sun 6 Dec

Race - 17:10

Fingers crossed for less drama, but more racing.
