F1 2016

So, Canada. The UK times are:

Practice 1 Fri 10th 15.00
Practice 2 Fri 10th 19.00

Practice 3 Sat 11th 15.00
Qualifying Sat 11th 18.00

Race Sun 12th 19.00

This is positively civilised for us. (Although I quite like a sneaky P1 stream when I begin work...)

:)

It's the one that went on for four hours a few years ago, and the scene of one of Jenson's greatest every drives.

Massa both figuratively and literally loses the back end of the car.

Scary stuff.

Red flag.

ETA: there's a drive shaft lying amid the remains of a rear wing assembly.

Jenson engine change, so grid penalty for him and lots of talk in the press that he is "interested in TV presenting" so maybe no drive for him next year?

There is also a report in La Gazzetta dello Sport that James Allison Ferrari's technical director could be moving to Renault (I have to say I'm surprised as I thought he was going to take over as team boss at Ferrari). His wife died recently and he has 3 children, so maybe he wants to be UK based

No Martin this weekend.
He is one of the main reasons I listen over the internet while watching most of the racing on TV, any news on who will replace him? I'd like to have Ted.

I hope it isn't Davidson, while I find his analysis interesting I'm not sure I'd want to hear his voice for that long. The same goes for Herbert. not sure who else there is that could do it, Crofty will be busy whoever it is.

Paul di Resta?

He's the tame driver in practice commentary. They might use him for qualifying and the race.

I didn't see what the cause was.

It looked like a 90 degree snap left as soon as he put some power on. Was there a wheel problem? Or just bonkers torque?
I've only seen it once, but from what I heard on the TV it was torque (or as it was said on the TV "he spun his tyres up")

These cars have amazing torque, to be honest I've been surprised at the lack of spins and accidents since they changed to the current power-unit, I expected far more spins but I think the tyres have a lot more grip which compensates somewhat.

I'd like to see Sainz move to Ferrari, I think he is quick and it would piss off Max I'd bet :) That could become a great battle in the years to come

I agree.

I do think that all the "big" seats are going to go to up-coming drivers, not the venerable ex-champions. So Ferrari should be looking for potential world champions not past ones.

Martin has had a "medical procedure", must have been fairly urgent if he couldn't wait until the season break

Good afternoon, just had a wonderful liquid lunch at the beach and looking forward to what I hope will be a great race.

I'm sure Bernie would say about Claire Williams "love person, one of the lads" ;)
However Bernie ain't beautiful is he?

No Martin on Sky, so lots of filling with Ted, Paul Di R and Crofty.

Looks like pretty much anything can happen - weather, wall of champions, coloured flags all over the place.

Should be fun!

:)
