They not going to take out away from it's are they!!?? :(
Obviously not. Standard box ticking exercise. Probably hand out a fine greater than anything given for monkey noises etc in other countries
It's UEFA, they're just being UEFA

Shouldn't start or finish is pretty innovative from St Gareth
Aye, even if it was the right decision (as ever, although we won, difficult to say what would have happened otherwise), got to hope they handle it well with Grealish because that's naturally gonna sting a bit.

I am just over the moon we are in a final. Plus playing against Italy, one of the great historical footballing countries on the planet, alongside Brazil, Germany and Argentina.
Looking forward to an intense and interesting ninety minutes on Sunday.

I've been very open in saying that any of the teams we've faced so far could have beaten us if we have an off day and they have a good day. This is the first time I feel the roles are reversed.

England are the underdogs, and all things being equal Italy probably should win. But, they're probably a bit more knackered than us, we're at home... it's definitely possible.

Pickford has been immense for us in some games, and really rescuing his defence and single-handedly (literally :D) maintaining our clean sheet status for so long. But, I do have those worries about where his head can go occasion in big matches. I'm also still not convinced we quite have the mental resilience or confidence to stay calm and not lose our structure/heads when things start going wrong. Might at least in part be a hangover from the past couple of decades, though, and I honestly hope I'm wrong.

In a straight shoot-out, would probably expect Italy to beat us by more than a single goal, but it's the final of a crazy tournament, and what the fuck do I know, anyway :D

This has never been about redemption.

All we wanted was 'not another wanker, like the rest of 'em'.... and we got delivered a giant of a human being.
Yeah, totally this. Way too much is made of the penalty misses in England's various mishaps of the past. Anyone can miss a pen, even the specialists - Kane's last night was awful. And in the shootouts at the end, players like Southgate who aren't regular penalty takers have to take them. Southgate's pen miss was a mirror image of Kane's last night - certainly no worse than it. And he stood up to be counted - that matters more than not scoring in my book.

There's nothing to be redeemed.

I think it'll be a low scoring affair, pretty fraught and could be decided on a single mistake or moment of magic.

Italy have the swagger that you get from not losing for a very long time, every time they step on teh pitch they expect to win and it pours out of them. That's a really powerful thing to have on your side yet again England are at home.

Italy are the form team and are battle hardened after being on the tough side of the draw. The head has to say Italy but I don't know, weirdly the luck appears to be with England at the moment but that can be fleeting.

Penalties I reckon.

Is this match on both ITV and BBC?

I think I will have to opt for ITV as I love Wrighty and can’t abide Lineker.

Not sure whether this was an intentional gaffe or not. But translates as 'Let's take the Corona (crown)'

Predicting a high scoring final. I think Italy will win but fair fucks to England if they win it. (Not sure I'd feel the same if I still lived in England. ;) )

And, if England do win it, it would mean that by default Scotland are the second best team in Europe and should get automatic qualification for the 2022 World Cup.

I would love Scotland to qualify for the next World Cup, always excellent value at major tournaments (when they make them), and it would be good to have a proper home nations rival at a tournament for once.

I'm pretty sure the champions don't get automatic qualification for the next World Cup! :D

Also, why would Scotland be the second best team, rather than the other team that got to the final..? :hmm: ;)

Hey, if Qatar can get to host a World Cup, anything's possible in my fevered imagination. 🤔
