Detail your latest clothes and slap related purchases here #2

I remember my dad all dressed up in plaid shorts, black dress socks, brown dress shoes and horn-rim glasses. Once he took me and my giggly girlfriends to go shopping in the nearest town. I managed to lose him, but he found us all at the record store. He stood outside, dancing this spastic chicken dance until we were ready to leave, which wasn't long. It was one of the more embarrassing moments I remember. Its also one of my fondest ones.:D

:D

I bought some lounging trousers from Primark last week. They're black with pink and green dinosaurs on them, according to my 11 year old they are 'embarrassing '

I need to stop buying sequinned frocks off eBay :D

A long sleeved gypsy blouse, which needs the sleeves shortening a bit and the waistline's shirring unpicking to bring it back into proportion.

A blue cami tunic which needs something doing about excessive fullness as the skirt of it looks a bit too much like a tutu. It would probably hang better if the cotton was floppier. I might shove it around with a few pairs of jeans and see if that improves it; if not, it's going to need a recut. OTOH both items had obviously been ironed before sending, so I'll see it there's any starch which gets washed out.

Love those shoes Ruby, where are they from?

I bought some very dull but necessary stuff yesterday: one pair of jeggings *spit* and three pairs of cropped leggings (black, grey, navy, in case anyone is still awake after reading that).

<snip> (but wouldn't be able to walk in them)
I wouldn't be so sure - the thickish platform reduces the relative heel height, and the blocky heel plus ankle strap might make you more stable, and reduces the pressure going through the ball of the foot instead of the heel. Might be worth trying them on at least... </rationalising for England>

believe me - I have lots of similar shoes.. I've ruined my feet with years of trainer/sandal wearing. When I say sandals - I can't do flip flops, can't do ballet shoes... only proper thick soles. My work shoes are some kind of "Dr someoneorotherGerman" and ugly as hell.

but you're absolutely right that I should go with the premise that it will be *just fine* :D

which is how I have so many already.

I used to be able to wear them, dance in them - everything! :(

Actually about once a year I will wear them - just bring trainers with me in a bag for travel.

They're just so lovely..

Sorry gaijingirl, I'll stop trying to talk you around.

Back in my (much lighter) days of cycling everywhere, and spending hours doing ridiculously high impact dance on solid floors (seriously bad idea - don't try it), I could sprint a few hundred yards in 3" heels, as well as skipping up and down flights of stairs. And carry a fully laden rucksack in them without lasting damage.

Now, my feet, ankles, and knees are less forgiving and demand more respect, or at least more care.

I don't normally wear heels as they screw my back up, and I didn't buy those with any expectation of being able to walk far in them. But I have another pair of pale yellow heels which I rarely wear - except that I did recently for a gig and they were perfect for that as you don't have to walk anywhere, so I thought what the hell.

Not a purchase, which just makes it all the sweeter, but I got some brilliant swag from a clothes swap yesterday: brand new Monsoon black and white shift dress, still with the tags on; cute grey tshirt with blue and purple flower print; green tshirt with black geometric print; Jigsaw skirt that will do for work very nicely; and, best of all, an amazing leather jacket of the kind I have coveted all my life but never had the money for. For free! So happy

From & Other Stories, after I appealed for dress for 'slightly difficult to dress for' wedding on my mums' forum and someone said it made them think of me. Nice one that woman!

It's not very wedding on the face of it, but it's an outdoorsy posh bohemiany sort of wedding in September, so I needed something I can wear with opaque tights and potentially fairly sturdy shoes and I think it kind of goes with the feel.

Shoes are a bit of quandary... I feel it kind of needs some clumpyish shoe boot things. They had these, which are probably about right, but I'm fucked if I'm ever spending £125 on shoes.

So might look for cheaper equivalent at New Look or somewhere.

Quarterly pilgrimage to Primark. 8 tops under 30 quid. I'm waiting for the tone up to finish before I splash out on more decent tops.
