I think the sole is the bit that's putting me off.

They are exactly the right shape for what I want - and the colour is do my colour. I am going to send the link to myself and make the decision when I get home tonight.

They are going in a basket with some trainers for the OH so will be saving on postage

It's supposed to help you do a French Plait, but like Quimcunx says, these things never work, but it was only 5p.

Quite a bit of pure cotton, for a summer dress (V2835) which should just about look smart enough to wear at a wedding next August. That's if I finish making it this year and haven't worn it to bits by then.

That's why I got all 3 at the same time - so relieved to find something neither pinkish, nor floral, nor striped, and which wasn't going to look cheap after a few washes.

If me feet will let me, the dress will go with peacock feather print heels (on the charity shop thread).

Stumbled upon a 50s dress which actually fitted me yesterday in Brick Lane. It generally fits well and the fabric's lovely but there's something odd about the neckline and I'm feeling the urge to do something about it. It looks like it's strayed on from a dress for a much smaller person. Possibly whoever drafted the pattern sized the rest of it up for larger sizes but didn't bother changing the neckline. It kind of rides up in a weird way round the sides and back and looks particularly disproportionate when I'm wearing a cardigan.

I could easily find some more white ricrac and alter it. Maybe either take a couple of cm off all round the neck, or possibly just off the back and sides.

That or deepen it into a sweetheart neckline finishing in the more usual place (ie following the top of the bra line)?
