Cycling Thread #2 - Track

And not changing their minds once they achieve success.

Reading Romero's site i think she is a bit different to most athletes. Lucky to be supremely gifted and successful at whatever she does. She wasn't rowing for very long before she hit the big time in that sport.

Maybe we could start a petition that she takes up track and field as we're lacking in top contenders in many disciplines atm? :D

Don't have an issue with Romero being a hired gun for whichever sport fancies a gold medal or two. Good luck to her and them. The key thing for all our sports is developing strength in depth and Romero can only ever be a fairly small part of that

Yeah, by over a second, and Wiggins peeled off, so it was just three of them at the end, and and and and the overtaking would have added time to their time! Woot!! :D :cool:

aye, if they'd been racing a better team they hadnt needed to overtake, the record could have been broken by even more

I've been absolutely loving the track cycling. Obviously the Brits winning has a bit to do with it, but I've loved the tactics and cat-and-mouse of the points races, the sprints and the Keirin.

Cycling is :cool:

How did Romero do? Can't have the sound on in work so makes it difficult to follow whats going on, really frustrating, effing work :mad: :D :rolleyes:

Her only chance was trying to gain a lap but the field were too canny to let the pursuit winner get away and marked her down. She picked up a second place on one sprint during one of those breakaway attempts but that was it.
Want me to continue?;)

I was surprised to see her in the points race tbh. Was it her first time?

Some interesting commentary on the BBC live feed:

1046: Victoria Pendleton munches Simona Krupeckaite in the second race of her sprint quarter-final and she's through to the last four. She's got the semis and final tomorrow.

Munches:confused::D
