Cycling Thread #1 - Road & TT

Im saluting you few, you happy hardcore few who are up and reppin' at silly o'clock! :)

Just seen Emma Pooley- Im so excited!

Ah bollox, Cummings down on the Canadian at the top of the second climb. Tuft(?) must have had a great 2nd climb, he pulled back 20 odd seconds on SC and put a further 30 odd into him.

Would have loved to have seen the Women's but sleep must. Well done Emma!

I timed it to perfection getting up at 8pm for the men's...all the big guns are in the last 13 except for Menchov who is doing nothing:confused:

Is there any way I can watch this besides BBC - Hugh Porter is fucking thick.

"Is sanchez going to be in the lead at the second checkpoint?"

No...look at the fucking screen, he's already second on the clock.

Fool.

Never watched a TT with the sound off before but this might be the time.

Just managed to get into work in time to catch him sat on the side of the road looking absolutely knackered and saw Schumacher finish. What a ride!

Was a great TT to watch - two climbs and two downhills so the timechecks were all over the place - at the 3rd check Larsson was in the lead but Cancelarra knew exactly what he was doing as he owned that downhill bit as he showed on Sunday by making the gap.

Some interesting fails like Schumacher and Menchov. Contador mistimed it...set out like a bat out of hell but was never in after the second time check.

Sounds like it! Schumacher lost loads of time considering his form in the tour TTs. Very happy with the result though, Cancelarra is one of my favourite riders :D

Same here. Not sure where Larsson came from; his record or form didn't suggest that but it was definitely a course that certain riders relished and a heck of a lot of hers didn't fancy.

Here's to more Hilly TTs.

I watched the ladies TT at around 5:30 am and i was stunned by the highly quality times that the top 5 ladies produced on the hilly circuit. I wanted the French Maverick Jeannie Longo to get the Bronze but it wasn't to be :(

But a big up to Emma Pooley for getting a suprising silver medal. It was fully deserved after the significant role in helping Nicole Cooke win the road race title.

Just watched the highlights of the men's TT and Cancellara's ride was utterly sensational! A bit suprised that Contador, Schumacher, Cadel Evans not producing in the event.

That was soooo worth it. Five and a half hours of just sitting on the sofa with the odd piss-break, and boy was it good.

I think Pooley must've surprised the later girls with her time, and she seemed to be able to pull off what Contador didn't with the quick start (although granted the mens' was twice as long). Larsson seemed to match Cancellara on the climbs, but FC looked so smooth throughout the course that it made me think it was his technical descending that got him that much time.

Props to Cummings too, who made someone as good as Menchov look very ordinary.
