Can Yaxley Lennon run for EU elections?

So I am seeing various reports on the BBC amongst others that claim Tommeh has announced he is going to run as an independent for the EU elections.

As far as I was aware his extensive criminal record means that he can't stand but I can't actually find anything that confirms this.

I realise this is the European Council, Is this document relevant? If anyone can shed some light on this?

To be disqualified from being able to stand in the GE you have to have been given at least 12 months. The mortgage fraud got him 18 months but he didn't serve that. If it's the sentence that's important rather than the time actually served then he's disqualified. A quick check on the electoral commission website tells me that you are disqualified from standing in the European elections if
you are also disqualified from standing for election to the House of Commons (with some exceptions)

So yeah, he should be disqualified. Unless he is a secret peer, or bishop.

Freedom of idiocy means he should be allowed to run, but rage against idiocy means he should be ignored so the publicity hunting little prick gets shit all out of his attention grabbing stunt.

Of course he will sell it like

Its an affront to democracy

it will get as much coverage of Neil announcing his party and it topping the polls least than 3 hours later

:hmm:

I think the criteria are bullshit and theres no way I'll be siding with an establishment stitch-up like this, no matter what candidate.

Plenty of MPs should be in jail for far longer than 12 months, but aren't.

Yeah, although the preferred method of SYL not standing would be him being in a coma for the rest of his life.

However i thought the euro elections used a party list system. Can you stand as a single candidate?

I don't think the turd seriously thinks he'll win, he just wants publicity for his idiotic ideas.
Ignoring the daft twat is easily the best way.

I think preventing him from standing would be counterproductive and undemocratic.

Preventing him from standing by inventing rules would be, but there are lots of positions of trust not open to people with recent convictions and that’s not unreasonable. So if the rules prevent it, they do. If not he can stand and get the heckling he deserves.

I think that's pretty dangerous tbh, it needs to be challenged head on imo

His moronic ideals must be stamped on with brick soled boots, but he's just a no hope pointless little wanker so I'm pretty sure it would be better to leave his pathetic attempts to shrivel up and die in the same sort of way he should.
The more protests, the more publicity for his cretinous cause.
