Best cheese grater you've ever had?

bmd

Island in the stream.
I've got one of these, an Oxo. They about a tenner and built to last. It has a box attachment that comes with a lid so you can grate a load off and store it for those times when you need grated cheese really quickly. :hmm:

I prefer to buy stuff that lasts, rather than getting one of those pound shop ones that goes rusty after its first wash.

You bored this evening? :D

I have an ikea stainless steel box grater, and a flat grater for when it's more useful.

the ikea one came in a 'kitchen starter box' that i bought when i moved into my first flat, 18 years ago - so doing well. I was thinking about that today, because the saucepans in that set are still completely fab.

Heavy stainless steel box grater.Had it bout 5/6 years.Bottom fits almost perfectly into them plastic dishes you get from the chinese so any leftover cheese gets a lid on it and straight back in the fridge.

Huh??? :hmm:

I have a box grater which I think was my grandma's. I certainly took it with me when I left home in 1981.

I also have one of these Alessi parmesan graters.

And I don't take my shoes off at the pictures, sheothebudworths because that would be weird. Also difficult to get the laces undone in the confines of the seat.

Well see that's the thing - I ALWAYS take my shoes off at the cinema - I mean I do it without even thinking about it - and I also tell my children to take theirs off, too...y'know 'make yourselves comfortable...take off your shoes' but yesterday I had a sort of reverse lightbulb moment when it suddenly occurred to me that actually, not everyone takes their shoes off at the cinema :hmm: - and then like, omg, does ANYONE take their shoes off at the cinema? Is it JUST US?  A proper crisis of confidence :( although I didn't put my boots back on or anything

Oh :hmm: I've got a normal box grater, btw :p - and a microplane for zest and parmesan and garlic and that, which is fab.

i don't take my shoes off at the cinema. it's a bit anti-social, imo. mostly they're fne but on a hot day occasionally they have a bit of a smell to them.

That box is too small.

Snap, sheo.

I've got an Ikea box grater, a smaller hand grater for parmesan and garlic* and a teeny tiny one for nutmeg etc

*grating garlic is brilliant but I need to get some disposable gloves as I can still smell it on my fingers from yesterday morning.

I don't think I take my shoes off but I haven't been for ages.

In the summer I'd be wearing flip flops and wouldn't want to put my bare feet on the floor.

I don't think I'd take my trainers/boots off but I'll have a look around next time I see a film. :)

You don't *think* you do? :D :hmm:

My feet aren't on the floor much either - they're tucked under my legs, or I'm cross legged or whatever - I am ON THE SOFA

Go and wash your hands rubbing them over a stainless steel spoon as if you were building a lather with soap. It'll take the edge off the odour.

ETA I do take my shoes off at the flicks cos I'm usually in Birkis which slide on and off anyway. I don't really like wearing shoes.

If I do, it's not a decision I guess I just do it. I can't remember but I suspect not. :D

My feet are always tucked up at home but not in the cinema.

It's pretty much gone now, there's just a slight whiff. :D I've had a bath and washed my hands dozens of times.

Someone told me/I read that you should wash your hands with cold water after handling garlic as it shifts the smell better.

Shattered illusions. :( :(

I'm not diddy, though. And I usually claim the aisle seat. Taking my shoes off takes commitment.
Me too. My ideal cinema seat is the right aisle so my dodgy left knee can be stretched out occasionally.

I've chosen my Stewart Lee seats with this in mind. :)
