Are you excited by the new blue British passports (made in Poland)?

They're black by virtually any measure. Your victory was a massive con, suckers.

I had always assumed that my old passports were black and so was rather nonplussed when they started going on about bringing back blue passports. I like the colour but it is a bit like those Borismaster bus. It's design echoes the classic model but it is shit. It's too small; too flexible ;and it hasn't got the two cartouches one surrounding the passport number and the other with my name, ideally hand written in turquoise ink.

I'd actually completely forgotten about the possibility of getting a different-coloured passport until Mrs BB mentioned it. Maybe they still have to issue the EU ones until we've actually left?

We have left, and they didn't have to issue the EU ones even when we hadn't.

You can always renew them again later in the year.

Mrs Frank has a Soviet Union passport, issue date 1999. Bit of a head scratcher that one. Evidently they still had quite a few left in stock and couldn't be bothered to print any more.

Anyone suggesting that either the pre-1988 passport, or the new one, was/is anything other than black is not in the same room as common sense.

Of course
they're black to any reasonably-functioning pair of eyes, damn it!!!!!!
Fuck the technicalities .......

I don't care what fucking colour they are - I don't have one cos I don't go anywhere...but I do care that yet another UK business (De La Rue) is sacking workers as the tender for production moves out of another hard-pressed region Gateshead) over to a French/Dutch conglomerate...although cunts on all sides since De La Rue backed the wrong horse. As usual though, it's the workers who get shafted.

Yes, but black/blue passports! Freedom fries! Brexit! We've got our country back! Won't someone think of the NHS! etc etc

def, blue. was once shown an array of these passports by people and asked which were fake( this was years ago)- the range of apparent colours and faded hues was pretty impressive. was not able to ID the bogus ones

Swings and roundabouts though really. De La Rue manufacture banknotes for over 50 countries including Euros and dollars so they have done the same thing to other countries with currency printing contracts, as has been done to them with the passport contract.

I have two here. I just took a pic of them side by side in natural light, 1960 on the left and 1973 on the right. One is more blue than the other, but they're both blue:

well I just got my new one and it is definitely black.

interesting to note> my old passport had three languages on the first page where it has the full name of the UK -- English, Welsh and Scottish Gaelic.

My new passport now also has Irish Gaelic, French and Spanish on that page.

The photo page, same as the old one, only in English and French.

I do wonder why they've added Spanish
