WTF? Mayor announces that Crossrail is to be known as the Elizabeth Line

Ironically the Royal train's locomotives are diesel so wouldn't be allowed in the Crossrail tunnels

Ha, even though there's a load of stuff locally about it I forgot we (Woolwich) were going to appear on that map! Probably still bloody Z4, mind...

Have to say that is a very, very useful line.
Unfortunately, this being London in the 21st century, one of the first effects of this line has been to triple office rents around the various stations. It will allow some to get in more easily - the richer - but it is having the effect of pushing others out.

Assuming it'll run 24 hours, It'll be a lot more useful in being able to get to and from Reading late at night between 1:35 and 5am where there's only like one train at 3:30am ish.

That's definitely a concern for me. My anticipation of the added convenience is tempered by the idea that my rent will be increased to the point where I have to go somewhere with current levels of 'convenience', or worse.

Anywhere within walking distance of Farringdon, office rents have exploded. Around Hatton Garden, where I work, the old jewellery workshops will all be pushed out eventually. My office is being pushed out this year with a tripling of the rent. Still don't know where we'll be going, but it won't be good.

It's completely rotten, the state of London atm - any and all improvements lead to price explosions and older residents/businesses being pushed away.
