neither blur nor oasis would have made the bus fair home if some wealthy middle class coke addled tory in the home counties hadn't seen a way of marketing them.

how can you say they done a disservice to the working class when they were fucking loved by millions of working class kids?

Because I sort of work in the music business, I try to keep a general respect for all music and I try not to hate any music, even the stuff I don't really like.

I make a single exception for Oasis. I don't know if it's their whiny music or the twattish attitudes of the Gallagher brothers or their ugliness or the fact they hung around with Tony Blair or the fact that I was at a really nice party once when someone ruined it by insisting on putting on an Oasis album.... Or it could be a mixture of all this.

But I really can't cope with them.:(

Never been called a "Thatcherite" before but sticks and stones :D

but that's a thatcherite attitude you're giving out. wealth = quality. it's bollocks innit.

look, you like their music and i don't, fair enough, but come on, at least make an argument based on an analysis of why you like them. do you like everything popular, is everything popular also the best?

No, I'm just being objective as being subjective is just opinion.

Not really sure you can call alan McGee a wealthy middle class home counties tory tbh, at least not back then.

I'm sure one of the former members of blur is now a pig farmer so that's ok for him to pass the hate police I guess :D
If you mean Alex James, then I think you'll find he's pretty universally disliked. If that isn't enough, he's also a mate of David Cameron.

ok, bit of an odd comment to make then.

no it wasn't.

alan mcghee didn't sign oasis and then nothing happened and then oasis sold a million trillion records and were at downing street. a lot of other wealthy middle class coke addled wankers had to decide to invest time and money on oasis on the principal that there would be a good return.

Nothing wrong with a sound investment :D
