Obviously they can't promote one candidate over any other by gifting them a headline photo, and as there isn't a photo with all the candidates they've gone with the most relevant person to the fact the by-election is taking place.

In context they might as well have added "so what are they complaining about?". How hard is it to add "but refuses to call for a cease fire." But worse than that, it assumes Israel's action is solely against Hamas which is a huge contention to make.

Should people who work for a news channel have no bias?
It's not even worth discussing in theoretical or free speech terms or whatever. It's a naked exercise of power by the government, which has clearly pushed the BBC into this. It is important to place it as part of a wider authoritarian drift by the Conservative Party rather than just debating in isolation who should or shouldn't get to express their views.

Not sure military occupation needs to be in inverted commas there. I mean what else would you call it if your military is controlling someone else's territory.
