Certainly!
woop!

Ms T - similar, but much bigger, and I wasn't sure if the smaller bean actually breaks down whilst cooking, whereas the much larger cannellini bean wouldn't. THAT was my worry.

That sounds quite sad doesn't it?

Last night I made a tofu and veg thai green curry. It was lush. There are still leftovers though

However, tonight I'm having my mince wine and mulled pie night so will only be consuming those in vast quantities. oh, those and the finest malt whiskys.

the leftovers will have to wait until tomorrow.

teresa hasn't had indian food too many times so tonite we're going out for it. i think i'll introduce her to mutter paneer, chicken tikka massala, some type of daal or maybe aloo gobi. and we'll probably get the appetizer platter which has samosa and pakora and some other goodies.

she's had butter chicken before but i think thats a bullshit dish.

w00t :)

i had pasta with a roasted veg sauce. was ok. i am now having my second tea of 2 fruited saffron buns, a bowl of rice pudding and some non alcholic julglogg :)

We had veggie sausages, potato waffles and baked beans, and it was great. Then an old friend called and took us out for drinks, and that was also great.

Gonna make that bacon and bean gratin OU posted up

With double cream
Oh my fucking lord - that was GOOD!! Turns out my cannellini beans were actually chickpeas - which went even better now I know how it turns out

Jesus christ - couldn't stop eating it! Had 2nds, 3rds, and 4ths :D

Smoked bacon rocks in it

Thanks again OU!!

last nite we went out for curry and had samosa, pakora, deep fried cauliflower, mutter paneer and chicken kofta curry (ground up chix meatballs) with naan and rice... it was great and theres still leftovers :)

Am doing homemade fishfingers for the kids - strips of fish in herby/garlicky/lemony/black pepper breadcrumbs - which I was going to do with peas and homemade wedges, but after reading May's last post, I've decided to get 'em some potato waffles.

I need to use up the rest of the beansprouts and chinese leaf, so will have another stir fry with some mushrooms/broccoli, with a bit of fish thrown in I think.

I use the diced stuff more cos it's chunky

BTW Orang - the Portuguese delis will cut huge slices (by knife or machine) of pancetta for you, alllowing you to make the chunkiest chunks possible.

Tonight it's the roast pork that's been defrosting in our fridge for a bit too long - was still frozen solid yesterday, meaning a quick change of plan to pasta. Some roast veg and potatoes in the baking tray and that;ll be it I reckon - may bung it in the oven and wander off to the pub on the corner for a Friday beer

:D :D It fed the daughter too but she didn't get the chance to eat much

Corrected :p

We'll be having some sort of food on the run tonight...maybe some Caribbean takeaway from Brixton. Where is good to go?

Think it might be steak if I get to the butchers before it shuts. With chips for him and something a bit healthier for me.

What can I have with steak?

Can I just say that under no circumstances should anyone have a Pret All Day Breakfast sandwich becasue it is quite the most disgusting thing I have ever eaten.
Thank you.

:D :D I did go at it even worse than my usual breakneck speed :D then every trip to the kitchen involved another several spoonsful out of the bowl

Phwoar! Doing that again
I'm gonna eat it at least once a week throughout the winter!

may pop into me favourite chinese restaurant for chicken and jellyfish/ung choi with rice.

or alternatively, a curry (garlic chicken chilli) ordered from me favourite south london joint - chilli spices.

Eeeyarr chuck

Gratin of beans and bacon

1 large thickly sliced onion
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon fresh thyme
6 slices smoked bacon – or pancetta
2 (400 g) cans haricot beans
200 g double cream
3 tablespoons grated fresh parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 200°C.
pour oil into a shallow pan and cook the onions till soft and golden.
stir thyme into the onions and cut bacon into short pieces and add to the pan, stirring occasionally until pale gold and fragrant.
drain the beans and rinse under cold water.
tip into the onion mix and add the cream and stir till bubbling.
check the seasoning, you will probably need both salt and pepper.
transfer to a baking dish and sprinkle parmesan over the top. Bake for approximately 30 mins or until top is crisp and the sauce is bubbling around the edges.
