What do you call Shepherds Pie / Cottage Pie when you make it with veggie mince? Anyway that's what we're having!

Fish in a creamy sauce with toasted mashed potato topping (made with cheaply priced trimmings of about 4 kinds of white/smoked fish from our excellent fishmongers) - served with broccoli and carrots.

still haven't decided yet for take out dinner tonite, i guess the choices are:

  • McDonalds :(
  • Pizza :)
  • Sub Sandwich w/ chips
  • KFC?

should be here any minute now :)

Done mamoth amounts of work / chores / usefulness recently so decided to treat myself to fush n chups - been thinking about it all day (another 14 hours at work, grrrr) Trotted off to the FnC shop all excited, with my last £4 clutched in my hot little hand; waited for there to be a new batch so it would be perfect, skipped home and...

It was horrid  How? How? Really cardboardy and oily and bleurgh. I am still up staring at my cup of tea and being disappointed :(

Bah! I feel like this every time I get fish and chips up here. I get all excited and then it is always a disappointment. You wouldn't think it would be so hard to find decent fish and chips would you?

Tonight it will be something quick and easy as it is one of those busy nights. Probably a pie and veg for the children and either a ready meal or cheese on toast for me. :)

From my recollection, and this is pretty vague....35 yrs ago it was quite easy to find decent fish 'n chips :)

A half shoulder of lamb that's been marinating in an olive oil/cumin/ground and fresh coriander/garlic/black pepper and paprika rub for a day and a half which I'll roast and then squeeze some lemon over the top.

We'll have slices of that, with some toasted pitta bread fingers, hummous, greek salad, olives and a spinach/chickpea/lemon/onion/garlic/fresh coriander warm salad thing (haven't quite decided how to do it yet, but that's the basic idea :D ).

Can't wait!

Either pork chops in a mustard cream sauce with cheesy swede mash or lamb kebabs with pitta and coleslaw - depending on my mood when I get home!

Your dinners always sound amazing sheo. :)

Something involving pork tenderloin. Maybe saltimbocca. Maybe stuffed. Maybe medalions in a white wine sauce.

I wanted to make a recipe which I wrote down in a slightly garbled fashion when watching Rick Stein do Italy... It's a one pot malarkey, basically layered (from bottom)

sliced potatoes
basil/ cherry tomatoes/ parmesan/ garlic/ herbs
lamb fillets or chops
potatoes
basil/ cherry tomatoes/ parmesan/ garlic/ herbs
Parmesan breadcrumb stuff

Then baked. I have looked all over t'interweb and can't find it - does that recipe seem reasonable? It seems a bit lacking in liquid to me...
