Trump said to seek huge premium from "allies" hosting US troops

I know Americans have prior form on this ("Lease lend" ) but this is blatant profiteering.

Well, this isn't as sleazy as it is scary, is it?

Let's look at what we have, a woman known to own a string of brothels, and very likely (and suspected) of human trafficking for sex slavery, is selling access to the president of the United States of America.

Everything to Know About the Spa Founder Selling Access to Trump

The woman who founded the Florida spa where police allege Patriots owner Robert Kraft solicited prostitution appears to have also sold access to the president, according to investigations by the Miami Herald and Mother Jones. The reports not only raise another red flag about how political influence has been monetized during the Trump presidency, but provide new evidence of how Trump-branded properties have become magnets for corruption and grift — and may soon lead to new investigations into what may have been illegal campaign donations to Trump and the RNC.

Look at this from two years ago. It appears Trump knows all about running brothels and massage parlours too

China just approved Donald Trump-branded spas, escort services and massage parlours
Ahem! :D

Ahem, and look at this from two years ago.

China just approved Donald Trump-branded spas, escort services and massage parlours

Seems some of these were granted in Donald Trump's name and some in Ivanka Trump's name. Makes ya think, eh?

That reads as though they’re saying monetisation of political influence is some kind of new thing in American politics...

... or world politics - just Trump is deeper in and a lot more blatant about hanging around with sex criminals.

Bernie Sanders condemns Trump's budget as 'breathtaking in its cruelty' – live

Why is so little on here about Trumps economic policies?

His budget is horrendous, and now attacks much of his base.
There have been several posts on Trump/GOP economic policies, but the thread is two years old and runs more than 400 pages, so possibly not that easy to find them.

Trump/GOP policies were never intended to genuinely benefit his "base" of MAGA hat wearing folks, but they loved his bigoted, xenophobic, misogynist, etc. approach so much, they were willing to overlook the potential harm they might suffer. And even now, most haven't wavered in their support for him, even as they've lost their jobs, their houses, their tax deductions and/or their health insurance. So long as they believe the people they despise are suffering more, they're satisfied enough.

And then there are the Evangelical Christians who are convinced he will bring about the rapture asap, so they'll ignore or rationalise everything about him that seems the absolute opposite of Christian, because the ends justify the means. Of course, often you get folks who are both MAGA hat and Evangelical Christians. Not much fun at parties.

Trump/GOP economic policies are designed only to benefit Trump, his family, and circle, and other super wealthy - particularly those who invest in any thing with the Trump family name attached, the Trump campaign, the GOP as a party, or potentially might do. It's a kleptocracy.

Trump admin threatens to withhold intelligence from Germany unless it drops Huawei

The Trump administration is threatening to withhold intelligence from Germany if the country does not drop a potential contract with Chinese telecommunications firm Huawei.

The Wall Street Journal obtained a letter dated Friday from U.S. Ambassador Richard Grenell to Germany's economics minister saying that intelligence sharing would be limited if Huawei or other Chinese vendors are allowed to participate in building Germany's 5G network.

The U.S. has been urging allies to drop Huawei for months. Intelligence officials have expressed concerns that the telecommunications giant is spying on behalf of the Chinese government.

The push comes as many countries begin adopting the next-generation wireless technology known as 5G. With people becoming increasingly dependent on the internet, U.S. officials are increasingly sounding the alarm over the potential for Chinese spying.

According to the Journal, Germany says it has seen no evidence that Huawei had or could use its equipment to spy on its users and that it should be allowed to bid for the country’s 5G network if it meets security criteria.
