What stupid shit has Trump done today?

To be honest, I can't.

I'm British and I only started to take much of an interest in American politics last November as DISASTER seemed possible. So, my knowledge of the internal wranglings of the Democratic Party aren't up to it. No doubt, I could bugger off and find something to cut and paste that eloquently made the point that it wasn't "rigged" but what's the point - you've just told be you've already decided in any case, I don't know enough to change your mind.

I stand by what I said about the Greenwald article: he is overstating his claims. But he has something of a point. Sorry, to sound terribly centrist about it, but in this case I think it is fair to say that both sides have some truth on their side and in the end you'll land on the side you most support. (He is also the most unnecesarilly verbose writer of the internet age!)

Yet, here we are, a year-and-a-half or whatever after the event still arguing about it. And if Bernie decides to run again (do you think he will?), and decides to do so again without actually joining the party then it'll probably all happen again because I think it is going to be very hard to run a campaign within an organisation that is going to appear completely fair to someone who is not part of that organisation.

Is that it? Don't like the source so dismiss it out of hand?

Um, you asked for evidence that claims of rigging and corruption in the Dem campaign were untrue, but stipulated it not come from a Democrat.

I said all journalists are biased (even though mainstream claim not) but at least independent ones tend to be upfront about where they come from.

I then recommended a fully cited piece by Elizabeth Rogers - yes, a democrat, but I figured you could use your noggin to decide if her evidence was credible.

But, it seems you dismissed it out of hand!

You shifted the goal posts by posting an article about the credibility of a bunch of writers - but none of them were Elizabeth Rogers.

I personally don't care for much of Greenwald's writing nor the veracity of his sources, and find I have a more furrowed brow than normal when reading a lot of content on his Intercept website. That is a personal opinion. You don't have to agree, and if you are a Greenwald fan and my "are you serious" comment offended you, well, I'm sorry about that.

But please, don't accuse me of doing what you just did.

Edit: Just wanted to add that one thing that needles me about Greenwald is that he also tries that mainstream "I'm not on one side or other, me," when clearly, he does have an agenda. Call me old skool, but I still like a bit of integrity with my journalism now and then.

When even Jimmy Carter, former potus and Democrat, is stating that Trump is getting a raw deal from the press, then you know something is not right.

We all know that Trump is an arrogant braggart. We knew that before his election. But now we have loads of people posting banal, childish and nasty posts complaining about someone who posts banal and childish posts (mainly on twitter) and says nasty things about those who attack him.

It's a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Has anyone caught the reaction from the Japanese press?

I think that once Trump is in South Korea, today, the Northern Loony will threaten and even attack.

The reaction to Trump's visit? Lots of vox pops with happy people on the telly. There's usually a bemused tone to Trump but the coverage (I've seen) has dialled up the respectful tone. The Shibuya protests barely got a mention.

The man's actions have a bearing on all of us; people feel impotent against him and the resurgence of the far right.Yeah, so you're going to get a lot of vitriol aimed at Trump and his administration. I'm sure he can take it.

and the resurgence of the far right

I don't see a resurgence of the far right. I see shitloads of working class people, totally disillusioned with the political establishment and especially Democrats like the Clintons who make mega bucks from big business, voting for Trump to curb excessive immigration, bring back jobs, reverse the gains ISIS made etc. I doubt that they give a flying fuck about the politically correct brigade who clutch their pearls every time Trump says or does something politically incorrect, which is almost every day. They just want the results they desire, and didn't believe they would get them from electing Clinton 2.

Do you think Trump gives a shit about working class people?

Explain politically correct, please. Would the brave people who stood up to the Charlottesville neo nazis come under that sneering dismissal? Would antifa?

You need to go to Specsavers then.

What. I asked that you not provide 'evidence' from journalists who are supporters of the democratic party and as such i have shifted goalposts nowhere, much as you might like to suggest I have. I did not read the Rogers thing last night but suffice to say she seems to be full of vitriol to say the least:

And perhaps anything but unbiased.
She also seems to have a rather one-dimensional view of the media:

So all in all I'll take what she says with a pinch of salt.

But Trump can't do anything. He's incapable of it. I read a good series of tweets (sorry) on the inexplicable way he's turned tax reform/cuts into a complicated and unpopular nightmare when it could have been so easy because he's put so much effort into repealing or cutting taxes he himself pays.

Well, I suggested you check the sources she cited as evidence, but you choose not to engage with this because you think she's "full of vitriol," that's your choice.

It's interesting how often women and people of colour are dismissed as being "too angry" but the same "style" in a white dude doesn't even raise an eyebrow. It's just "being direct" or perhaps "assertive."

But hey, there you go.

teqniq is a sexist and racist now...

I beg your fucking pardon? Are you implying that I am misogynistic and racist? If so you are really incredibly stupid.

Fucking hell - it was an observation - that women and men and women of colour are often criticised for the same behaviours (e.g. being angry) that white men get a free pass for.

Maybe you haven't noticed this being a thing. Fine. It doesn't mean my comment was about you.

You mean like this? Woman Fired For Flipping Off Trump's Motorcade

Briskman, who worked in marketing and communications at Akima for just over six months, said she emphasized to the executives that she wasn’t on the job when the incident happened and that her social media pages don’t mention her employer. They told her that because Akima was a government contractor, the photo could hurt their business, she said.

Virginia is an employment-at-will state, meaning employers can fire people anytime and for any reason. But Briskman said what’s been particularly infuriating is that a male colleague kept his job after recently posting lewd comments on his Facebook page that featured Akima LLC as his cover photo. She said this colleague was reprimanded for calling someone “a fucking Libtard asshole” on Facebook, but was allowed to delete the post and keep his job.

Give an example please, if you can't, which I fully expect, it will just be more identity politico bullshit.

oh its true that angry women and people of colour can have emotional responses often termed 'out of control' rather than 'passionate' or 'forceful'. Thats not controversial I'd have thought. I mean even reasoned discourse in a vehement tone. Man, he's forceful. Otherway round, ranting. I mean where does the word hysterical have its roots?

but thats not whats going on here at all. CRI has reached for smears (i wasn't talking about you! egotist!) again. Simple as. Really this is about six or seven people now, same pattern. It'll be teqnic on ignore next.

Kinda funny really as that's exactly what the DNC and it's supporters have resorted to over Brazile's revelations, smears and obfuscation.

Absolutely.

A male colleague posted a negative remark with offensive language about Black Lives Matter on social media using an account with his own name, job title and employer, but still has his job.

She fessed up to being the mystery cyclist to her boss and although there was nothing to connect her or her employers to the incident, she was summarily dismissed - for violating their social media policy. WTF.
