I'm a confirmed smoked salmon hater - it's slippery, and it's not very smoky.

However, I'm a convert to SOME smoked salmon, since tasting the candied smoked salmon produced by Urban's own spitfire . It's candied in a maple brine, then smoked. There's a fabulous number of intense different flavours. I had some - finely shredded - on a cream cheese bagel, and I can't remember the last time a bagel tasted so lush!!!

Hot smoked mackerel in those vacuum packs for me. There's a great easy recipe on BBC Good Food that's simple, fast and healthy and looks 'fancy' as if you've made some effort, which I make every now and then.

I had the Baci version over Christmas and it did taste of berries. But I thought it was fucking disgusting, fwiw.
