What new foods have you tried recently?

Can I say, your sex face looks dissapointed. Your murder face looks like you have just looked at a light to bring a sneeze on.

On another note. Can I please ask how the chuff do you quote someone and input a 'hilarious' response without repeating yourself and looking like a twat? Also, how do you start a new thread? I only found this forum whilst googling ' what happenend to the full range of beanfeast'. I'm rather enjoying it and would like to stay without looking like a moron. Ta

Also known as pimenton. Last time I bought some, I paid about £3 ($5) for 100 grammes. You don't need to use a great deal (I generally use about 1/4 teaspoon per two portions of whatever I'm using it for, whether as an ingredient in a soup or stew, or as part of a seasoning mix for a marinade etc. Adds a subtle "smokey bacon" flavour.

Thanks! I tried it last night and used teaspoon in a risotto. It was too much. I'll have to revise down as you say.

Greebo tends to measure it out using the end of a teaspoon, in order to not use too much! Fortunately I was warned by my mate (who gave me a 500g bag of the stuff that he brought from Spain) to use it sparingly "otherwise it's all you'll taste for the rest of the day!". :)

Already posted on the weightloss thread but seeing as we're discussing flax here: Flax bread

Milled flax
Egg
Baking powder
Salt
Olive oil

Mix it up, spread it on a plate and microwave for 90 seconds.

Tastes like a really rustic wholemeal bread. Good shit

Sounds good. I could probably have that as the flax is ground into a fine powder, right? Or is it more corse?

Are you going to be able to take fibre again at some point ?- it's actually supposed to help prevent your condition.. (mind you they say that about the two problems I have too ...)
Chia seed might be an option - it's like fluffy tapioca.

I'm stuffing down milled flaxseed several times a day and it's probably fairly hardcore fibre ... has all sorts of interesting effects...

Yes, in about 2 weeks. I'm supposed to go back to fiber and then try to maintain a high fiber diet as long as symptoms (cramping, pain) are not present.

i havent tried to freeze them - will do!
i can eat them at any time of day - my recommendation is inside a wholemeal pitta with hummous - for added action add olives in same said pitta sandwich!
they also work well in a bagel with a poached egg i kid you not :D

First experiment with adding ground flaxseed to bread.
333g seeded wholemeal bread mix
200g water
30g flaxseed
30g extra water

10 percent flax powder worked well in my bread.
If only milled hemp wasn't so expensive. It has similar qualities but is seriously yummy. I think I'll start chucking hemp seed in whole again.
I used to put in something like 25 percent of mixed seeds by weight, but ultimately felt they were mostly wasted.

Last night I had Dragon Eggplant. It's instantly become my favourite Chinese food ever. It was so good.

Aubergine, sliced into thin slices along its body, but still connected at the bottom. It felt like it was deep fried but I'm not 100% sure. The middle was so soft and tasty, and the outside was crunchy. I think it was coated in breadcrumbs or something. Then it had a minced pork and soy and chilli and vegetable 'sauce' poured over the top. I didn't take any pictures and the ones on Google images don't do it justice, but this looks the closest to the one I had (though mine looked miles nicer).

It was seriously huge/filling, too. :)

My amazing new food of the past few weeks is polenta. You need to make it with stock and herbs and stuff but it's ready in the time it would take me to decide how many potatoes to peel for mash. Look up Ottolenghi's mushroom and herb polenta; bliss. A bit long on cheese for my taste but what is a recipe if not a string of suggestions.

Your diet doesn't seem to contain much joy, gentlegreen :(
I have a palate that relishes earthy flavours - which may well have evolutionary advantages ...

What sort of bread do you prefer again ?

I'm off to my local specialist shop in a bit for various things - including "amla" - or "Indian gooseberry" powder.

Amla - or hog plum - dried - super sour and astringent but apparently off the scale in terms of antioxidants so I probably have a year or two's worth.
