Taking them out of the pack to cut up for sausage casserole was like shaking hands with a dead six-fingered person.
You should probably try the new ones for yourself, and make your own judgement. I definitely don't like them, but I'm playing it up a bit for comic effect...Gutted.
Everything else is second best for me. I bloody loved Cauldron saussies.

Kelvinside?I'm hoping to move to where the crepe is king
Since you're planning to move to Brittany, why not find a source of buckwheat flour and get geared up for galettes?Definitely the end of an era methinks.
I suppose it's appropriate that I'm hoping to move to where the crepe is king ...
This morning I made a very satisfactory "pancake" with 80g of WM flour and jumbo oats - then cut it into four so I'm good for the weekend.
I really don't miss having the full 500kcals of bread, peanut butter and yeast extract and have learned to savour little pieces extracted with a fork...
That said, even with several hundred calories of salad for lunch, I was noticeably tired even only half way through my second 3 mile walk, so I will have to take serious exercise like cycling and ocean swimming into account in the future.
For now, I have kilos to burn and a metabolism to re-educate...

Things are improving. Culturally, it's still very meat based - try finding a formule that is veggie friendly (and isn't crepes/galettes), but on an individual basis, more and more people are at the least veggie-aware, and I think there's a strong vegan undercurrent in France, too.I got keen a while back and bought a cheap crepe pan and buckwheat flour, but I didn't have much success.
I'm going to have to learn to make an effort generally with cooking if I'm going to sneak veggie food past the locals...
