I've made myself a birthday cake - coffee and walnut, using Nigella's cake recipe (although I've done it as a single layer tray bake) with Delia's mascarpone topping, which tastes like thick, creamy cappuccino *dribble* - it was very hard not to just eat it on it's own! I have some strawberries, too, so we might have some of those on the side

Rhubarb and custard 'buns'. Except the buns were more like biscuits. My first attempt at choux pastry was a failure. But a tasty failure.

I gave it a go cos blitzing the walnuts appealed to me - I like the texture and erm *moistness* ground almonds for eg give to cakes. I wasn't 100% sold on it cos it is nice to have small bits of actual nut through the sponge too (although there was nothing to stop me doing both, tbf) but yep, it's lovely anyway!
