What are you baking?

This weekend, I will be having another crack at making bonfire toffee, but THIS time, I will not end up with a kitchen full of choking burning smoke, no sirree. THIS time, I will stir it, a lot, unlike the original fucking recipe, and I will end up with a tray of heavenly-tasting black toffee.

Also planning to make a chocolate sandwich cake, with homemade bramble jelly as the filling and dusted with an icing sugar/cocoa mix. Will serve with fresh blackberries, oh yeh baby.

Ohh lovely. Did you make your own starter? I'm toying with the idea but I'm tempted to go and ask the local baker for a bit.
I made my own to see how difficult it was - just mixed a tablespoon of bread flour with some water, stuck it in a jam jar with the lid loosened and put it on the windowsill for a few days. I gave it a shake and it was fizzing nicely so added a tbsp of it to a cup of flour, threw in some salt and enough water to make a shaggy dough and stirred it (no kneading required). Then I left it overnight to rise, punched it down, split into 5 pieces, formed balls and left to rise again on a floured baking tray for about 2 hours. 190C oven for 15-20 mins and that's it. I'll be a bit more ambitious next time but it's a pretty encouraging start I think.
