What are you baking?

Half price chocolate day at Lidl. 17p a bar for milk chocolate. Its not the best eating chocolate but its excellent cooking chocolate. So Im going to start with brownies, then make cookies.

Blue cheese and Walnut rolls:

I'm about to make some mint choc chip brownies (using mint matchmakers).
I don't think I've ever made brownies before, any tips?

I suspect the secret is getting the timing right so they are cooked to the right consistency.

These were lovely, and I was right about the timing.
I had a friend there at the the time and she made me take them out of the oven because she is a brownie veteran.
I would have left them in there for loads longer and completely overcooked them.

Gosh how did I miss that lol

I want to make a cake but not sure what :hmm: will need to check what cake tins I have first actually :D

This won't mean much to anyone not from NI but I've just successfully baked (dodgy treacle glaze aside) a pretty fair copy of a Veda Malt loaf (nigh on impossible to get hold of outside Ireland and bits of W.Scotland). I've taste-tested it among various ex-pats and there has been much rejoicing - If it quacks like a duck... ;)

hazelnut dunking biscuits  have so far eaten some nuts, some mix and a hothot biscuit straight out of the oven :D YUM

Oooh! May I have your recipe please?

This week has been a half term bakeathon :D

I've baked a chocolate hazelnut fudge cake for a Come Dine With Me evening at my mates, two ace loaves of bread, some shortcake biscuits and this morning i baked a good luck chocolate cake for purenarcotic as she starts placement tomorrow.

I just wish we didn't have an oven that leans to one side as results often come out lopsided :D

Just made some cheese scones.
After all the complicated, weird things I've baked recently, I went back to basics and used my mum's simple old 1970s cookbook where each recipe is described in about 2 sentences. No fuss. They actually taste tons better than anything modern and fancy.

It's lush, cake for breakfast woohoo!

Not proper baking as I'm using the bread maker but I'm baking a loaf for the first time since the 1970's when I used to do it the long way in a rickety old caravan oven.

^^ cakes sounds delicious..:) I'm doing Aqua's white chocolate cheesecake for a colleagues leaving thing. Planning on another as yet to be decided cake.

I'm having another go at marshmallow tea cakes today. Anyone used powdered egg white? Don't want to waste ingredients if its cack for meringues. Also baking various cakes for my mum and sister tomorrow. Lime drizzle loaf, orange biscuits and vanilla fairy cakes...

I had an oven like that and with some you can compensate by putting the oven rack on third rung one side and second rung the other iyswim

Me and lil fraction made some bread. We made up the dough last night then baked it for breakfast. It turned out really bloody good too!
