What are you baking?

Quite!

My colleague is a massive control freak and it really upsets her that the kids get to decorate the tree. : D
My mum would never have let us do the jobs she liked. She was quite clear that being a grown up doesn't mean you get left with all the boring jobs. Did me no harm at all. Also - if the niblings want to decorate a cake, they should make their own, which is also fun.

I don't really remember doing christmas stuff like that apart from 'helpfully' peeling all the satsumas when no-one was looking. : o

My mate does indeed rearrange the tree but the kids notice and get the arse.
: D

DI people blind bake their mince pies? I'm sure my mum didn't but I'm worried Paul Hollywood will materialise in my kitchen and tell me off. And that they'll be horrible.

I may have to divide the cake surface in three so we can all do a section. Obviously mine will be the BEST because I am an adult  :p

Just iced my Christmas cake. I used this recipe as it sterilizes the egg whites meaning I don't have to worry about eating raw iffy Chinese eggs. It's also a recipe for meringue. I love it so much, it's idiot proof.

Several weeks back, Aldi had some cake mixes in, and I thought it was time I used the "cake" mode on my breadmaker...

So last night I finally get around to making the chocolate fudge cake.

I put the water and oil in the pan, empty the packet on top and proceed to the machine.
At which point I find there is actually no cake mode.

So I put it on "dough" and forgot about it, and eventually dozed off.
3pm I wake up as I usually do, and put it on the half hour "bake" cycle.

I currently have something around the outside that almost resembles cake and runny chocolatey liquid in the middle.

Ah well, worst case it will make some sort of dessert ...:)

I tried just turning it upside down in the hope that it would flow out in a useful way - even window glass flows given enough time :)
But I found a nylon spatula, oiled it up and actually got the thing out in one piece. :)

Flipping annoying about my Panasonic machine not doing cakes - I feel sure my old Morphy Richards did - I've recently found that later Panasonics even have a special hook and cycle for rye bread. :p
In any case though I'm more into making things you can't buy.
I used to make a vegan fruit loaf that was definitely well into cake territory by simply cramming in masses of fruit - and this machine has a nut dispenser so I could use generous quantities of glacé cherries.

Well I have to say that was disgusting - he says, wiping the chocolate fudge from around his mouth.
Might try warming some up tomorrow.
I reckon I can now officially say that it's impossible to make chocolate fudge cake mix inedible.
Add a teeny bit of chilli and I reckon I could have served that up at a dinner party.

In my loaves I use about 60 grammes of hemp seeds and 60 grammes of "Omega Mix" which I stock up on when H&B have a BOGOF :-

Sunflower Seeds (36%), Pumpkin Seeds (24%), Brown Linseed (15%), Golden Linseed (12.5%), Seasame Seeds (12%)

Omega Mix used to have hemp in it. Thankfully H&B now stock hemp seed separately.

I scoured the non-stick off my first bread-maker. :D

I'm finally using the raisin dispenser in my machine - makes a huge difference - my bread tended to come out looking like bird-food before.

:D

People sprinkle omega mix on their cereal FFS.
I'm amazed there weren't actual choking deaths when it contained hempseeds.

That chocolate thing looks quite nice - people pay good money for a melting chocolate middle these days.
