What are you baking?

Give me a recipe! I've got buttermilk, various types of flour, yeast, and loads else besides...just not sure what to make.

I'm itching to bake, really want an excuse to make aqua's white chocolate cheesecake (with a twist ;)), but need people to share it with, I have no will power and would eat it all  :(

does crumble coun t as baking?

rhubarb cooked with some dark brown sugar and fresh ginger, topped with a gooey flapjack. it's a hit among all the kids, even the 2 that normally turn their nose up at rhubarb

I made a batch of rhubarb and ginger muffins yesterday. Today's task will be to try to avoid scoffing the lot

Reminded myself of this recipe on another thread so have made it to take to a friend's bash today. I opted for UK pears rather than Chilean plums. A bit sort of got broken when I was cutting it up so obviously I had to try it for quality control purposes.

I made flapjacks for the week's lunches. They have ground flaxseed and chopped nuts in them so I can happily pretend they are healthy. Nom.

I made some veggie bean pasties yesterday with shop bought shortcrust pastry and was impressed at how nice the pastry was (although my mushroom and black-eyed bean filling was a bit dull). Any suggestions for more pastry-based things I can do, preferably not too insanely calorific?

I'm attempting to make an entire cake from a lemon gem cupcake recipe.. It didn't rise quite as well as i thought it would, and one half stuck to the the bottom tin, so it's sort of a disintegratey mess  i'm thinking that 'plaster over it with buttercream' is the best solution. :hmm:

When that happens to me, I tend to dish it up hot with custard and pretend it was supposed to be a sponge pudding all along.
Alternatively, you could make it into a trifle. Which is more or less a cold version of the serving-it-up-hot-with-custard idea

Why yes, I am addicted to custard. Why do you ask? :D

it's being sent off to a barbecue tomorrow, so custarding it up isn't an option  and i've no idea where to get stuff to make a trifle vegan at this time of night. So. I managed to ice it up ok. And then dropped the cake stand thing when i moved it to the other side of the kitchen. This cake is doomed, i tell ye. DOOMED.

FWIW i sort of caught it when it was falling and it was salvageable. Looks like a dogs dinner though :D

Bloody hell fire
Cake juggling? At this time of night?

Go and get yourself sat down with a nice cup/glass of something soothing, according to preference.
They'll scoff it, don't you fret.

I made Dan Lepard's dark banana ginger cake yesterday. It only takes about 10 min to mix together and it's divine.

*look into the icing, not around the icing. ignore the fact there's probably enough of the stuff to kill a small pony*
i'm actually a bit proud of how it's come out :D

Cupcakes, that's if the batteries in my electric scales don't run out  :D

Am doing choc/banana ones too Boatiebird, what recipe are you using?

Also doing Red velvets and lemons....

I'm still in recovery from that brownie tart I made last week, it took me and the very chocoholic Mr three and a half days to eat.

I used this one:

But I didn't bother with the struesel topping. The melted chocolate in it makes it lovely and moist.

Oh, and if your batteries die, take them out and warm them up in your hands and put them back in, they should see it through the recipe then! (you might already know this )
