What animals/wildlife have you seen today?

Last few days have been busy round here. A deer legged it out in front of me as I drove up Tregonning Hill. We saw an adder, buzzards and loads of choughs out on the coast path yesterday. Best of all, we saw 4 or 5 seals on The Lizard this afternoon. The seals were particularly cool - as we were up on a little ledge, they felt comfortable enough to swim quite close. One cow swam pretty close to have a look at us - she seemed as interested in us as we were in her.

Oh the adder encounter fills me with jealousy

Lots of choughs on the Cornish cliffs these days since they were reintroduced.

I caught a fleeting glimpse of a single fin out at sea but it didn't stick around. I'm guessing a porpoise if it was on its own - dolphins tend to be in pods.

I also think whimbrel, I'm not familiar with them by sight, but looked up residency/migration patterns of both species, and that would seem the more likely candidate in your part of the world at this time of year.

Lots of great birdlife out on the coast path this weekend.

The biggest kite I've ever seen (quite rare for these parts), a couple of buzzards and the now not-so-rare choughs. The kite was really impressive - definitely king of the jungle - even the buzzards gave it a wide berth. Didn't stop the crows from going for it though - always amazes me how little jackdaws will have a pop at something 3 or 4 times their size.

Deer for me too though no pictures as I drove past them a few minutes ago in the dual carriageway. It amazes me how they seem so nonplussed being close to the road
