Quite elusive for such a noisy bird aren't they? I've been right underneath a tree it's battering away but and still not seen it.I find I have to get-up very early to see my Woodpecker - It tends to come before the Jackdaws get very busy at the feeder. Same in the evening, it comes in the brief period when the Jackdaws have settled down just before sunset.
If the Jackdaws have left anything for it!
Juveniles make a right racket, but they always seem to be the opposite side of the tree to where you are so difficult to catch sight of!Quite elusive for such a noisy bird aren't they? I've been right underneath a tree it's battering away but and still not seen it.
My phone app said the call I picked up this morning was a juvenile so if they're flying back and forth feeding I might have more luck.
Whenever we get seals in the Lea, the gulls go absolutely mental, I don't think they like the competition for fish.My mum has a woodpecker that makes a few trips to the bird feeder right in front of her kitchen window every morning
Not today, but last night there were a load of (I think) little gulls swooping and diving into the harbour right outside my window. Not sure what was really happening but it looked like they were playing whack-a-mole with the seals that kept surfacing in the exact spot the gulls had just left.
Yeah I guessed it was probably fish-related.Whenever we get seals in the Lea, the gulls go absolutely mental, I don't think they like the competition for fish.
Like - if all the gulls (usually black headed gulls and herring gulls here) take off screeching and start dive-bombing towards the water, watch that spot in case it's a seal.
Think you'll find that's not a sandwich.Sandwich

In Nottingham?Jellyfish.
Jellyfish.
Hamsters aren't venomous and you could just set one of your snakes on it.I'll handle any venomous snake, I'll take a bite from a tarantula or a tail whip from a monitor but jellyfish? Nah blud. They're legit terrifying, like hamsters.
