What animals/wildlife have you seen today?

I find I have to get-up very early to see my Woodpecker - It tends to come before the Jackdaws get very busy at the feeder. Same in the evening, it comes in the brief period when the Jackdaws have settled down just before sunset.

If the Jackdaws have left anything for it!

Quite elusive for such a noisy bird aren't they? I've been right underneath a tree it's battering away but and still not seen it.

My phone app said the call I picked up this morning was a juvenile so if they're flying back and forth feeding I might have more luck.

Juveniles make a right racket, but they always seem to be the opposite side of the tree to where you are so difficult to catch sight of!

My mum has a woodpecker that makes a few trips to the bird feeder right in front of her kitchen window every morning

Not today, but last night there were a load of (I think) little gulls swooping and diving into the harbour right outside my window. Not sure what was really happening but it looked like they were playing whack-a-mole with the seals that kept surfacing in the exact spot the gulls had just left.

Whenever we get seals in the Lea, the gulls go absolutely mental, I don't think they like the competition for fish.
Like - if all the gulls (usually black headed gulls and herring gulls here) take off screeching and start dive-bombing towards the water, watch that spot in case it's a seal.

Yeah I guessed it was probably fish-related.

Seals didn't seem to be all that bothered, judging by how long they were spending at the surface before diving again. The larger gulls weren't paying them any attention though.

I'm at our holiday home. There's black swans, ducks, geese on the lake. I'm woken by cuckoos, various other birds. There's deer which come through the woods surrounding us. A badger snuffles around. Rabbits play on the grass. I've not heard the woodpecker yet this year.

It's a magical place.
