Urban75 Album of the Year 1988

Also not sure if anyone has mentioned the first Sugarcubes LP?
It's on my list though in 1988 I actually seriously hated the Sugarcubes because my older brother was into them (I was only 13/14).

Hating bands because he liked them did deprive me of some good music (notably mbv and j&mc) that I didn't listen to till much later but on the plus side it's helped me lead a Pink Floyd free life. By the time I gave them a chance I was old enough to know they were shit straight away.

From wiki:

Lick is the third album by The Lemonheadsand the last to feature founding member Ben Deily. It was released in 1989 and was the group's last album before signing to major label Atlantic. A typo on the album itself erroneously states its release date as 1988.
Was this when they were still trying to promote the Lemonheads guy as a "hard man of Rock"? (Proof that indiedom was just as formulaic and commercial as the mainstream)

Still six hours or so left to vote!

Just a reminder, you don't have to have voted in any of the other polls to join in this one!

Hey ho, let's go (and then I'll give you a day off before you have to think up the next list - can anyone guess what that might be?

Shock Number 1: if I hadn't allowed that late vote, a Nick Cave album wouldn't have made it onto the list at all! Not even the one with The Mercy Seat and Deanna on it.

We can't blame it for inventing shoegaze, even if it did.

Idiots rule indeed, or this would have been higher. Or lower.

Thousands are voting, it's like a fairytale.

"The astonishing high-pressure racket of Let's Play Domination's opening salvo ("Message for You People") may send you rushing to the turntable to see if your stylus is accidentally gouging a hole in the platter." Apparently
