Neither Prince or Jackson had an album release in 83, thoughOh. But also Randy Newman, Prince, Thriller and so much more.
This is going to be harder than I thought.
Slayer will be top three though, as will Metallica and Suicidal Tendencies.
They are both on the NME link in the Op, but I concede that Thriller was released November 1982 and 1999 was released on October the same year.Neither Prince or Jackson had an album release in 83, though
Best album you've never heard.
Absolutely amazing minimalist electro funk, with a bizarre, early industrial vibe. The lyrics are amazing, Exercise Your Ass Off is one of the best tracks ever made, with the sample running behind the vocals. If this was released by Cabaret Voltaire or Throbbing Gristle, noobs would lose their minds. This album is a masterpiece of the unexpected, freaky, weird-out funk and will blow your mind as easily as it blows something else.
Give us some pointers ahead of time pleaseOooh.

Larry Levan produced the NYC Peech Boys album this year. It's not bad, but sounds a bit dated. The highlights are still brilliant, though.

Groundbreaking godlike genius
Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This
You've probably heard the title track too many times (if such a thing is possible), so remind yourself how great the rest of it is...

Their 1983 album is almost the archetype of what people generally think of "80's music". It's all gated snares and montage music.Give us some pointers
Eno album Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks is a good shout especially the re-released version with additional tracksI'm thinking The Fall, Eno, The Cure or the Cocteaus.
I'm sure we've all had a drunken dance to this track.
