Tory youth activists bully fellow Tory activist till he commits suicide

So how will we get away with putting out a whitewash? I know, how about we put it out in the middle of August? Yep, that should do it.
Tory bullying inquiry finds 13 alleged victims of Mark Clarke
The Conservative party said it would set up a hotline for complaints made by volunteers and overhaul its system for reporting complaints in the wake of the inquiry.
“Finally, I’m grateful to Clifford Chance for the thorough and timely way in which they have conducted this investigation.”

Aye, Corbyn's lot need to learn what really bullying is from the Tories. FFS, if you can't even get a brick through the right window, how can you expect to govern?

Theresa May "warmly thanked Tatler Tory" claims The Telegraph.
Video footage is said to have emerged showing Mrs May praising Mark Clarke for his efforts on behalf of the party at an event in 2014.

The now-Prime Minister is said to have told him: "What you are doing is absolutely tremendous. RoadTrip 2015 is great. Thank you Mark for all you are doing," before leading a round of applause by activists.

The footage, reported in The Mail on Sunday, emerged after an inquiry by the law firm Clifford Chance found that there had beenrepeated complaints about Mr Clarke's conduct after he was appointed to head the party's RoadTrip campaign, bussing young activists around the country in support of Conservative candidates ahead of last year's general election.

However, the report said senior figures including the then co-chairmen Lord Feldman and Grant Shapps were not told of the allegations, while Mr Clarke has always strenuously denied the claims against him.

Interesting.
Quite remarkable that one individual would draw together so many threads that the tory party would rather were buried and forgotten. So the alleged rapist is closely connected with Clarke & the bullying of Elliott Johnson, tory election expenses fraud (Mackinlay), and the alleged blackmail of Halfon regarding his affair.
Stinky in the extreme.

I had a very nasty feeling when the "inquiry" (it was barely that) into the activist's suicide was so clearly about hiding away this nastier side of Conservatism that they were making a big mistake. Every organisation will have its bad apples, and/or its dark side. It's far better to be honest and upfront about it, and encourage people (by actions, not just words) to call out the dark stuff, than insist on pretending there's nothing down there in the cellar.

And I guess what is down there in the cellar will tend to coalesce around individuals, or small groups.

Speaking both hypothetically, and very broadly, of course.
