Tony Blair to work for Rupert Murdoch

Like he doesn't already ...

The media magnate Rupert Murdoch is expected to offer Tony Blair a senior role in his News Corporation empire when he stands down as Prime Minister.

Allies of Mr Blair insist he has made no decisions about his plans when he leaves Downing Street -- almost certainly next year. But some friends say a seat on the board of News Corp could tempt the outgoing Prime Minister, as it would dovetail neatly with the lucrative United States lecture circuit. Mr Blair's popularity at home may be waning, but he remains big box office in America.

Micah 7:2

"The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all lie in wait for blood; they hunt every man his brother with a net. (v.3) That they may do evil with both hands earnestly, the prince asketh, and the judge asketh for a reward; and the great man, he uttereth his mischievous desire: so they wrap it up. (v.4) The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity."

You are saying that mankind has been corrupt throughout history? That is true.

BTW, but there are modern english translations of the jewish scriptures, you know. ;)

God, what an odious man he is, why do LP members tolerate him?
He wins elections.

Now don't get me wrong, I don't agree with everything he does, but hey, Labour in power is Labour in power innit, even when its New Labour, and he's only pretending until he gets elected ... oh, wait ... I mean vote Blair, wait for Brown ... (still good for another few months right?) ... what d'you mean, Brown's already started presenting policy and it's worse than Blair's ... erm, well y'see, he's only doing it until he gets elected.

And so on.

with each day that passes i hope more people will discover the truth about new labour.

I thought Blair was after Kofi Anan's job at the UN ?

My opinion of Blair is he is the champion social climber - he managed to get to the top of the Labour party without being a labour man - if he could stand as the US president he would win - he just does what it takes to get to the top.

There is no way Blair would work for Murdoch - why? Becasue its a step down.

There is no way he could get Kofi's job - he has pinned his colours too firmly to the US mast.

Possibly he could go for a top EU presidential job - although he has back off his EU commitments for a time.

I dont know what other big jobs are out there - but trust me , he wants the biggest one he can get - not neccesarily biggest money (alhtough he has a bg morgage) but the biggest kudos.

From IMDB -

Tony Blair downplayed recent speculation that Rupert Murdoch has offered him a place on News Corp's board of directors. He did so in a light-hearted appearance with California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger at a Los Angeles news conference Monday.

"If he needs a job and wants a job in Hollywood," Schwarzenegger quipped, "I'll get him to play Terminator 4."

Blair responded, "Now that is definitely the best offer I've had. Actually, the sad thing is, it's the only offer I've had."

Wouldn't be great if lots of powerful American organisations led him on to believe that he had a future with them, but all dumped him because individuals of similar creepy ambition felt threatened and so dropped him like a hot brick.

Blair is an evil genius by UK standards but by US ones he is just another contender who can be bypassed. His only value to the USA is as British Prime Minister. Why should they take him on after that? They have thousands of aggressive, false-smiling ambitious legal types with no sense of morality in their own country without importing Blair. Also Cherie would be a liability. In American eyes she is probably that most accursed thing a 'liberal' based on her legal career. She would join the Democrats and Blair the Republicans. What sort of message would that give in the New American Century.
