Thread to note supply shortages in the shops

In sainsburys i have been able to get Hubbards hot chocolate for the last few months not sure weather it's been discontinued or not?
Sainsbury's seem to not care much about sticking Hubbards and other low price things. Less profit innit than on a branded can that takes up the same shelf space.

The daily star is on their front page says farmers think we could run short on lettuce and potatoes next

Strawberries seem to be the latest casualty round my way (not that we should really be buying them yet anyway).

Why is it Lidl and Aldi are mostly full of produce but the big four supermarkets have empty shelves? Could it be about paying suppliers in full and on time? See also paying lorry drivers decent wages instead of shite?
Where I am, Lidl and Aldi have had the same tomato lack as everywhere else. Morrisons was the only place to get some in, a couple of days ago. Aldi are also selling tiny baby iceberg lettuces as if that's OK.

Any one else notice a shortage of evaporated milk?

What the fudge do you use it for in 2023?

It's down to the poor harvests because of drought and assorted weather conditions.....Spain is particularly hit and a lot of the veg affected comes from there.....
Added to which, many of the energy intensive Northern European glasshouse operations have been laid fallow as spiralling energy costs have made production uneconomic.

So some supermarkets are 'rationing' fruit & veg 😳 they need to have a word with the Turkish/Kurdish lads who have shops around here , they always seem able to get fruit & veg in.

The Aldi fruit and veg shelves are looking very sparse near me.

I like it in coffee it's really creamy. Also good for sauces and cooking. We don't get out everyday to buy milk and we are always running out. I usually have a supply of evap in the store cupboard, especially since the fresh milk shortages the other year. Haven't been able to buy any for months.

And it's lovely on tinned peaches, tastes like a treat from my childhood.

Yep. During the great pasta/chickpea/toilet paper shortages in Covid times, they were all always fully stocked. 🤷‍♀️

(And their prices for veg etc are competitive and the quality v good.)

Yup, yawning gaps in our Lidl where the toms and peppers usually live. Got them in Asda though.

We eat loads and loads of peppers and tomatoes so going to try again to get some later.

I don’t really want to use jarred or frozen peppers but most of the meals I’ve planned need them.
